Tired.

OMG ... I HATE GRAVES' DISEASE!!!  Sorry I had to let that be known.  LOL  I have a question for anybody that might have an answer.  I was diagnosed with Graves' this summer.  At first I had a few symptoms ... mood swings, bulging eyes etc.  But now I'm just so tired.  I mean seriously tired.  I don't have the energy to cook or clean.  I barely have the energy just to get up and go to work every day.  Right now the Dr. has me on (forgive me if I spell these wrong) Methamazole and Propranalol.  But does anybody know what I can take to have a bit more energy?  Any tips?  I take a multivitamin too, but still am extremely tired.  I'm sick of being tired.  :(

I think you are know suffering a hypothyroidism instability. That is different than being in a Graves situation.

I found when I was Graves I had this uncontrollable energy all the time - I slept 3 hrs and felt I just had 10 hours of sleep! I lost a ton of weight and ate like a horse. Actually looking back it was a wonderful time - I was on the go almost 24/7 - until is hit! I had a thyroid storm.

That ended that "good" feeling really quick! I collapsed and felt aweful - panic - anxiety - sleep (exhaustion) - heart palps - sweating - shaking all came on very quick.

You need frequent testing while on your meds - if you level out - great - but if you don't you and your doctors need to figure out what you will need to do to get you back in check.

How long have you been on the meds? I don't have any thought on what you can take - but I do think getting off as much iodine as you can may be good for you right now. Anything containing that can interfer and cause more symptoms in Graves

hey, I know exactly wat ur talking about, I was diagnosed with Graves at only 15, had to have a total thyroidectomy when I was 18, I am now 22 and still struggeling with my feelings of pure tierdness. I was on them tabs too but now on oroxine. I dont know wat else to say other than i can really sympathise with u, its hard to deal with when all u want to do is get up and get the everyday things done that other people take for granted. If u have any other questions about it all ill try my best to answer them for u, take care and stay safe ;)

Graves disease is an autoimmune disorder....DO NOT take anything to pump up your immune system. It is already reved up from the graves, taking supplements will be like trying to put out a fire by adding wood.

What worked for me was to get enough sleep, decrease my stressors, seek daily contact with loved ones, (weirdly when i got really sluggish a diet high in fiber for 24 hrs perked me up). Stay away from caffine.

Peace be the journey

Paja -  5 months post-RAI, Graves is a *****, lived through hypohell just barely, on replacement now, feel like I just might survive this.
