Same Here

I get very gassy after dinner for some reason, regardless of what I ate. Same horrible sewer smell gas. Doesn't happen after other meals as much. I can feel the gas coming via gas pain about 10 seconds in advance before it gets to the launching pad. I fear my wife will want to leave the bedroom window open on cold nights to avoid the stench.

This discussion is related to Horribly smelly gas after meals (very embarassing!).

Smelly gas can be caused by several conditions.

1. A very common reason is a mild infection in the GI tract. A short course of antibiotics tends to help in such situations Norfloxacin and Tinidazole twice a day for 5 days works well. This helps even when you have SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgowth) which is another condition that causes smelly gas.

2. Poor bowel movement is another reason. This can be fixed by a mild laxative and having plenty of water and fruits.

3. Plenty of other conditions can cause these symptoms but try working on the above 2 to rule them out and you could consult a doc if they dont help.

hi, the gas can come from many sources, but most probably from bacteria in your intestines which feed on undigested food and sugar then release gas, so its not you who releases gas its the bacteria, so cut down on your sugar intake and dairy for a few days and monitor your symptoms closely, basically its a trial and error situation, if your situation doesnt change after a week then i would recommend you undergo some breath tests for lactose and glucose intolerance, cheers.
