*morosely*

Well, we're not allowed to give out beer and ciggies this year, so we'll have to come up with a new idea.

by TrudieC, Oct 30, 2008 10:47AM
After 4 years in the country with no trick or treaters we were excited when we moved to a small town.  Last year was our first Hallowe'en here.  Bought candy and only got 2 kids.  Not sure what to do this year.  Maybe give out coins for any lucky kid who comes.  They prefer the newer suburbs where the houses are closer together.

We don't give out candy because all of the ritzy mansions down the street (literally down the street from me) have a HUGE HUGE HUGE Halloween thing. Every single kid in Kansas City comes to this neighborhood and we have police blocking our streets and it's like one huge party. Kids don't bother coming to our house! But that's okay, 'cause we're going to a Trunk-or-Treat at a local church!

We have kids on our street and around us, but the thing in our town is to go to your church for fall festivals, but this year it's called Trunk or Treat.  Our first two years living in our house we bought candy and decorated for nothing.  So now we usually leave the lights off and we go to friends houses or something and get together

I love Halloween , I make red and green jelly (lots of it ) mash it all up and tip it into a bucket , wrap candies in foil packages and put them in the jelly . The kids in the neighbourhood  love coming to my house because I try to do lots of different things every year and I love dressing up .

Dry ice and koolaid.

The winning Halloween drink.

by Happy2girls, Oct 30, 2008 02:56PM

Nobody wants to come up our loooong drive way..No trick or treaters...
I am going to the local bar for costume nite and dressing up as a meatball hoagie

by Jasmine205, Oct 30, 2008 06:14PM
Candy, chocolate bars, chips and pop :P  We usually hand out all of those.

by AnxiousGurl, Oct 30, 2008 06:33PM
It used to be fun when my G-Ma lived in town we would go to her house and hand out candy since its a development with a TON of kids, I used to love seeing all the costumes and then you get the big kids who ruined it all by having egg fights and shaving cream cars, then they made this new 8oclock curfew! Now my G-Ma moved so it's pretty boring since I live off a busy street, it's too dangerous for them to go trick or treating around here...the way some of these meatballs drive. Plus my driveways a big hill.

by AnxiousGurl, Oct 30, 2008 06:36PM
I remember when I used to go trick or treating there was this one house who always gave out pennies.....I was like what the hell....I dont go trick treating for pennies, I want the candy! lol.

by anonymous789, Oct 30, 2008 09:47PM
We do not get any kids. My husband still buys lots of candy and insist that we will get some this year...then he eats it himself. Sneaky little devil!

by MJIthewriter, Oct 30, 2008 11:26PM
Can I give out african violets?  Darn... I don't think that would go well. We don't have any candy to offer to the kiddies who come by. :(

That is unless they want some old hard candies from who knows when??

by redheadaussie, Oct 30, 2008 11:35PM
Where I live in Australia I'd give the kids more than candy bars if they could make it down my goat track of a path on a steep hill in the dark! Most Aussies don't like the Halooween thing. They say It's an American thing not Aussie! So most refuse or get quite cranky with any kids who come knocking.
Cheers

I am going to the bar for Halloween dressed as a devil. Happy Halloween!

Around here, they ruin Halloween with "rules" about when kids can trick or treat. I just heard a big announcement on the radio:  The Village of ****, from 5:30 - 7:00, The Village of ***, etc.  Some small towns said they are doing Halloween on Sat., some on Sunday.  HOW LAME IS THAT???  Halloween is 10/31.  I'm glad when I was a kid, it was done on 10/31, even if it was a school night.  Of course, the end of daylight savings time had always taken place the weekend before, so it was dark a little earlier.  I swear, I never heard of designated times to trick or treat or trick or treating on different days, especially if 10/31 falls on a FRIDAY!!!  These spoiled, overweight little kids will just trick or treat all over the place.  Isn't that the big news? Kids are overweight?  Come on...

by twehner5, Oct 31, 2008 07:49AM
Oops, I'm giving out mini-candy bars.

by ChitChatNIne, Oct 31, 2008 08:12AM
Coupons from Wendy's or Burger King (I forgot as I bought them awhile ago) for a Safe Trick or Treating coupled with a small individual mini size Smarties or Sweet Tart .. the coupons are something different valued at $1.00 I think and the parents are happy when they go thru the oodles of treats on Halloween Night.

Mixed Bag of Candy and hope the parents wont let them stuff it in their mouths all night long. time rest of the year to censor what they eat,

by Me967, Oct 31, 2008 10:31AM
To: All; Happy Halloween
I'm giving out lots of miniature candies.  I'll also be wearing my witches hat.  I only get about 10-20 kids so I tell the little ones to reach in and grab as much as they 'de like with both hands.
At first they look confused, a glance at the parent with them and then their eyes light up with joy as they reach in.  LOL  What joy it is to make them so happy!  The dogs love barking at them from inside the house.  Then they go home on a massive sugar rush and drive their parents crazy.  Hee Hee Hee.  Our town goes all out for the kids.  Before trick or treating begins there is also 2 parades earlier in the day for them, games, rides, etc.  I love our little country town.  LOL  Happy Halloween Everyone.  ;-)

I guess my ego gets in the way.  There are much nicer "luxury" apartments near by, where most of the kids go because the rich folks have a reputation for giving out better treats.  Not to be outdone, I've got a huge bowl spanning several vital groups:  gummie, peanut butter, suckers, and of course, CHOCOLATE.

Though the above suggested beer and ciggies sounds like it might be a winner with the older crowd....
