Biopsy??

Hi....I also have several "grouped calcifications" weren't there 2 years ago..am 43 now...told to follow-up in 6 months as well. I don't have a reg. dr. to really run these things by...I have had a right side axillary lymph node slowly growing since my last mammogram 2 years ago. Also right side...Health Dept. ran bloodwork and it was fine but shouldn't this be a concern since this node has been slow growing, painless and same side as calcifications in question? It is about 2-3 inches long now ..maybe inch wide and doesn't seen to be getting any larger now. I now have a left side axillary node that is detectable yet small. I imagine I need to find a way to at least get a needle biopsy??? Have 4 kids that need me!! : ) Thanx for any input!

Seems like you both should've had a "busy" week!!  I hope everything went well for u both!! I'm hoping for good news! Yes, lymph nodes DO swell for different reasons...sometimes infection in the local area....or wound such as a bite, etc...but they are supposed to swell while infection is present then recede. Sometimes they don't totally recede..guess these r called shotty nodes from what I've read. I have had this node (r.axilla) swelling slowly for about 1 1/2 years...has never gone away or even receded at all but IS movable so that's good. I'm just waiting on a referral to a surgeon to get an opinion, etc. Unfortunately I have no insurance so I have to go thru the community health dept. Not the best care but I guess it's better than nothing, right?? Again, I hope all is well! Take care...

Thanks for your info....I should have biopsy  of left breast this week....all I know that if Kleenex stock goes up, its because of me!!!!  I can't eat, sleep or focus on anything...it really *****! My group of calcifications was quite large, I,m guessing over 20...seems like everyone else on here just has a few in their group ....and last night I started noticing a bit of soreness underneath left nipple  and sort of all over and some areas of skin that were whiter than others, almost like there was no blood flow or something...weird!?!?   I dont know if nipple soreness ect is do to activity in breast or the fact it felt like the tech smashed it with a battering ram when doing my repeat mammo....either way Ive got myself so freaked out.

Yes, I did have a biopsy. DCIS.  I'm going for lumpectomy tomorrow.

Don't lymph nodes swell from all kinds of things?

Hi there..(pattysb)
I read my report and there were multiple scattered and a few "grouped" calcifications.that appeared benign. Stated that because benign/malignant cal. can have overlapping features that malignancy cannot be ruled out. Follow-up 6 months...

This was my mam. for this year ....I had my first almost 2 years ago that was normal. Apparently, there was extreme density with my screening mam. this year and they could barely see the microcalcifications so this is why I had a diagnostic done. And, yes...my BIRADS is a 3. Did u ever get your biopsy done? How did that go?
I'm really NOT the typical candidate I guess you could say....not extremely worried other than these darn lymph nodes. I nursed 3 out of my 4 kids and if anyone has ever read anything about what THAT does to drop your chances of breast cancer then you know what I'm talking about!! And Pattysb....let us know how your biopsy goes? Take care...thanx for replys!

When I got my very first ever mammogram, I was asked by the women's center to come back for magnification view.  When back for that.  Radiologist came to say that he was recommending a biopsy because of the shape the microcalcifications were in--linear, appearing to be along a duct.  Have you had a mammogram this year?  If not, you should have a mammogram and determine what the BIRAD score is.  If it's a 4 or above, you need a biopsy.  I don't know about the lymphs, but you need to know about the calcifications first.  At least that's the way it worked for me.
