superinfection?

by roscoe1, Nov 26, 2008 12:09PM
I have hcv geno 1. sometime along the line I also had hep A. Is it possible that I could have fought it off while hcv  infected and never knew it or had it prior to the hcv infection? The doc says I would have been very ill, possibly hospitalized due to a superinfection with these two. whats the odds?

The most likely scenario is that you had the Hep A prior to the Hep C.
Co-infection is very dangerous as your doc has said..
Can't be 100% sure though-I suppose it's academic now anyway.
