Husbands Diagnoses

Four yrs ago my husband was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope> He was 56 yrs old. He is being treated by a cariologist and a Dr in Toledo Ohio who specializes in this syncope.

My question is: with the lessening of blood supply over these past few yrs, is it possible he is deveoping some type of brain damage from this? In just the last few months he has become incorrigible, with angry outbursts, throwing things, his memory is terrible for short term.

We have another appointment in 30 days with the specialist. Should I ask for some sort of brain test for him? I dont know what is happening to him..
Your help would be so appreciated.
Thank you

I'm guessing you are seeing Dr. Grubb?  Memory problems can be assessed with neurocognitive testing.  I'm not sure who Dr. Grubb would refer you to for that testing (or you can get a referral from your general practitioner), because I'm currently seeing all my docs through Ohio State U hospitals and am just now being referred to Dr. Grubb's practice and will be starting up there in January or February.  It was a Dr. Bornstein at OSU that I was referred to for the neurocognitive testing here in Columbus, but if you're in a different city you can probably find someone local.  From what my docs have said since I've started having problems with it, memory loss is not supposed to be directly linked to the syncope, but definitely talk to Dr. Grubb about it as he is the expert.

There is a forum for "dysautonomia" on MedHelp that is specifically for people with ANS disorders including neurocardiogenic syncope, in case you are looking for more support from other people with this and related disorders.  Good luck!!
