Shamberg Disease

I was recently diagnosed with Shamberg Disease.  I have no idea what brought it on but I have blotches on my back, armpits, legs, stomach, and ankles.  Of course, the doctor says there is nothing I can do except apply creams which probably won't work.  

I just spent two years with hives which allergy doctors said I got for no reason.  After taking strong prescriptions for two years which made me sleepy, my gynecologist told me to try accupuncture for five visits.  I was so desperate and so tired of the medicine that I decided to give it a try.  It worked.  After two years of having hives for no apparent reason they are now gone.  They started going away after the third accupuncture visit.  I am not a needle fan, nor am I a believer in natural medicine.  But the wonderful thing now is I can have a life without prescriptions for itching.  My question is has anyone tried accupuncture for Shamberg Disease?

I have had Schambergs for about a year now. I am very top heavy and I believe in some cases that weight and poor blood circulation have something to do with flare ups. I wear socks that are kind of tight around my legs and it seems like it flares up the worst where the socks are usually at. I hear that there is a blood thinner called: pentoxifylline that was tested on 10 patients with Schambergs and 8 out of 10 showed signs of it clearing up. I did order some of this to give it a run through and see if it helps. Def look into it.

I was diagnosed by my dermatologist 2 months ago with Schambergs. I had one bruise/spot for over a year, no other symptoms until a second red rash/spot showed up right by it with some discomfort. So i went and that is what they diagnosed me with. Since then, only 2 months it seems to be spreading is the same area. If I do to much walking I have extreme discomfort, aching. My husband struggles with varicose veins and the pain seems very similar. Aching, and burning. Can't find a doctor that knows anything about it. It is VERY discouraging and they all say there is no pain. The location is behind my left knee and I have no other symptoms or signs of it anywhere else. Hearing others talk about their similar problems does help me feel not so alone in this!

I wonder whether this is an autoimmune issue ... one a myriad of autoimmune issues that exposure to BUTYL or  2-butoxyethanol would cause.

I learned about the chemical because someone in my family worked as a bioremediation worker on the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup and this was the named chemical of harm

Get a very good list of the Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome symptoms, as EGBE should be suspect for causing these.  At all costs ... avoid butyl.  You can tell if it is in your cleaning products, paint ... because you will get 'the sniffles' diarrhea, or worse:  vomiting & flu symptoms.

Anemia is not generally found as too many things going on at once  & the blood numbers appear to be at least borderline normal.  I suspect that this is the fatigue Senator Kennedy is dealing with (if so severe lack of oxygen in red blood cells) that leads to seizures is a side effect of this chemical exposure also, and I have tried to contact his doctors c/o his office to tell him so, and ideas I've found to consider for help.

By the time these people see a doctor ... there is likely to be abnormal blood pressure, body temp and blood sugar (AI Hypothalamus)

It should be suspect for Autism & many birth defects AND the cause of 'military syndromes'

The high white blood cell counts are an anemia sign for these groups

Other common signs of CFIDS is memory loss, difficulty sleeping, depression, autoimmune red blood cells (AIHA or IMHA), FATIGUE, FATIGUE, FATIGUE! ... and any autoimmune issue that exist is possible in many combinations.

When cancer comes along as a side effect, especially kidney & liver & bone & bile duct and pancreatic, brain tumors or tumors anywhere (such as soft tissue sarcomas), you will notice that everything is blamed on the cancer and instead they appear to be dying of the anemia:  gasping for breath, rapid heartbeat, 'the chills'

This condition may be persistent and recurrent.

"Schamberg's disease, or progressive pigmented purpuric dermatitis, is a chronic discoloration of the skin which usually affects the legs and often spreads slowly.

The persistence and recurrence of the skin condition may likely suggest a dermatitic skin condition. If varicosities are present then vascular causes have to be ruled out.

Schamberg's disease is a type of purpura, a purplish discoloration of the skin caused by blood leaking from small vessels near the skin surface. It generally causes no symptoms and needs no treatment.

The eruption may persist for years but the pattern of eruption may change. Some people may have mild itching and require treatment with corticosteroid creams or antibiotics.

There is no permanent cure for the disease. Some laser treatments are being considered but they are still in the trial phase and none of them can be considered as a definite part of the treatment of the disease. Vitamin C may also help in some cases.
