Tramadol *****, it can totally cause seizures, I had one while taking it. I did get off it about 3 weeks ago but it caused alot of tiredness and anxiety. Things get better within a few days though. No nearly as bad of WD of opiates. Good luck.
if youve been taking more than 4 tramadol for longer than 6 mths. then I wouldnt stop taking them all together you can cut down to only one a day but going CT could possibly casue a seizure because it is a mildly acting synthetic opioid, but it also acts as a rapid short lasting anti-depresant, so when someone uses it for a while and suddenly stops taking it they could have the possibility of having a seizure, it could be less severe but you could have convulsions or major shakes, the longer youve been on it the worse it will be and the more likely they are to occur..the tramadol has about the same potency as taking a few codeine it is a very weak opioid but for some ppl who need mild pain relief doctors are automatically going to tramadol cuz its not scheduled yet and it doesnt ahve the stigma placed on it like the othe ropioid drugs, but dont be fooled, it is addictive and since it also has strange anti depressant properties you get wd's like that too, how fun? huh? ..the wds last the same amount of time as other opioids and opiates like hydrocfodone, oxycodone, codeine, etc, right around a week, after about 5 days it will lighten up and get less and less each day after..then the mental stage really kicks in, tahts where the cravings, anxiety, and the major risk of relapse needs to be carefully avoided, and where you dont start atking another drug taht ends of being a replacement addiction for the original drug in question, it happens alot....i would do your best using OTC meds out there for the pain or non opiate medications doctors can prescribe once youvebeen successfully off of opaite sfor a couple weeks or longer youd be surprised how much work and fixing your brain ahs been doing...your pain tolerance will already ahve increased by then as opposed to when your on opiates, your pain threshhold is soo low, your brain is tricked majority of the time into believing you are in worse pain than really is their...best of luck to you, if you ahve any other questions let me know anytime-christos
thanks for all your help im 15 days clean off heroin now and have no intention of going back to it. I havent been taking any pain meds at all but i am still sore. To beach777 thanks for your advice but my doctor would never prescribe me those tablets we dont really use them here (scotland) and no one knows i was a heroin addict except for my husband and a couple of close friends. Also if im off i dont really want to fill my body with opiates again but i will keep it all in mind if things get too bad. Thanks.
Thanks sophie your a gem Kim
Wait... She is clean from H for 15 days today....so why give her oxy and/or dilaudid? you lost me there but I'm really NOT an expert in this.
The problem is she has gone from the top tier of pain relief-H-to basically scraps (dihydro and trams). Of course she's in withdrawal--and her Dr. Is operating under the false premise that she wasn't opiate tolerant (that's probably understatement of the year) what she NEEDS is a good regimen of oxy and/or dilaudid/they are basically legal heroin anyway --regulated of course--get pain under control and walk downfrom there. Now: how to get it. As Shakespeare said "ah.. There's the rub." itsgoing to take a very forward thinking pain mgmt. Dr. who is willing to prescribe oxy/dilaudid to an H addict. May have to be "creative" to get it---but that's the answer.
Well I dont know much about those drugs. I agree about the trams though stay away from them. I have a suggestion but I dont want to get yelled at or deleted for it =) I know someone very close to me who was addicted to h for years and went quite a few rounds with addictions of all kinds she took so many vicoden that she destroyed her liver and had a transplant. What works for her is the fentenlynal (sp?) patch it takes her pain away without the ups and downs of the pills. Now I do know that is not easy to get off it but im thinking if u got off h any thing else would be cake for you!!
thanx a lot lesa, I'll pm her to check your comment
kim has quit the trams and is feeling wd from the original H it is not as bad and should only last a couple of days I had spoke to her.. it is manageable at this time.. She could use support in the fact that this will not last forever.. a lot of us take meds for pain let us hope hers will ease as she clears the opiates from her body.....
she needs help. thanx a lot.
HI
I dont know if this is any help but i have just recently stopped taking roxycodone about 5 a day. i am taking suboxen so i dont have real bad withdrawl symptoms. but i read somewhere b12 vitamins and magneseum vit. help with cravings. but both vit. are good for your muscles and bones i have definatly noticed a differnce with the physical pain. Last time just taking the sub. i had a lot of physical pain.now i am taking the sub and the vitamins and i dont have much physical pain at all.
I don't know anything about either drug.I know Avisg would be the best one to ask about tramadol though.Hopefully some more people will come along now that this got bumped up...Peace..kim
