by Sameer, Aug 16, 2005 12:00AM
For the Last 6-7 Months, I am facing problem of Back Pain. As a Software engineer I used to seat 8-9 hours daily. Initially while setting and standing there is pain at the end back. I tried some exercise, tried Rubber tube for 4-5 months. Now I am facing problem of Back pain which increases gradually. I can not seat properly as my body does not allow. It pains when I tries to seat and go back and relax. (Up to certail angle).

I have done X-rays, MRI for the same. As per doctors there is no Orthopadic or Neurological problem. This is only to contineous sitting. I have also tried all medicines in alopathy, homoepathy, Excercise, Physiotherapy.

Pl help me out.

Have you heard of the Inversion Table?  It is fantastic for spinal decompression and spinal stretching [especially the lower-back pain.] It is so great for so many other things also.  I  avidly exercise and about a month-and-a-half ago as I was simply bending, I faced a sever lumbar region back pain.  I immediately a day after, bought the inversion table.  It was a great relief and in fact it instantaneously relieved the pain as I mount onto it!  The pain is now all gone now and I can not recommend this piece of simple device enough Sameer!  Let me know if you needed more info.

Take care,

Yes his advice about the machine is a great one. But from years of experience please go see a chiro, you may only need a few minor adjustment to get back in shape. Regular docs, never done a thing for my pain.

I had similar pain for almost a year now. I think it is the posture that causes the trouble. I tried a few excercises in Yoga related to spine and got relief for most part. Due to extensive travel and being over weight my problem is surfacing again. Besides my case, I suggest, everyday Yoga for 20 mins will help you immediately and will be good in the longer run, no money no equipment no dependency... I do it everyday at home!!

If they did MRI and found nothing wrong, it is no doubt sciatica....take ALeve (with food) it helps, sitting is really painful when its inflammed. Heat to the area helps me usually, but the anti inflammatory is needed.

Hi madgeOwens, how are you? I do agree sometimes the MRI results can be normal inspite of the person suffering from the low back pain associated with sciatica. It is better to get a physically examined by an orthopedic surgeon and discuss the problem in detail. If there is a positive finding and positive tests, it is better to go in for a repeat MRI. Over the counter pain medication and neurobion can be tried. Rest is most important. Massage and heat therapy can be helpful. Take care.

Hi nn299, hope you are doing well? Thanks for your valuable thoughts and having shared your experience. Yes, over weight and less physical activity cause low back problems. Over exertion and too much strain to body can worsen the back problems. Doing yoga practice regularly and casual stretches seems helping a lot. Physical therapy and few massage session can also be helpful. In severe cases it is better to take rest and get evaluated by the orthopedic surgeon. X- rays and MRI low back can be choice of investigation. Take care and keep updating.
