Mysterious Soft Palate Pain

I'm not sure if "Dental Infections" would be the appropriate topic for the nature of this inquiry, so advance apologies if it isn't.

I have detected a persistent pain on my soft palate.  It is at the very back, approximately parallel to my backmost wisdom teeth.  At either, outer edge of the "raised", harder, circular center of the palate, if brushed with my tongue, I can feel an unusual texture.  It feels a bit rough or I suppose just textured in general would also suffice to explain.  To be honest, I don't often acquaint myself with what the texture of my mouth's roof should be like normally, so I can't commit myself totally to how strange this texture actually is.

My issue however, isn't the texture but the pain that these two areas are suffering me with.  Particularly when swallowing food, the sore on the right becomes immediately painful.

I've done as much searching as I can do and still understand (it's admittedly hard for me to differentiate and sort through all of the information out there on account of my limited knowledge of oral health, all the terms, etc).  I have ruled out canker sores and oral cancer (I hope).  There doesn't seem to be any real discolouring yet that I can see.  I will check again for changes, but any suggestions or suggestions for further reading/research would be appreciated.

It is a sharp pain while swallowing especially, I can also say I think that aching would describe it too.  I can, however, swallow in a 'special' way so as to avoid the pain, so that might rule out a throat infection.   I estimate that I've had this for about 4 days or so.

My wisdom teeth are still present, yes, and I saw my dentist only a few months ago.  I see my dentist regularly.  According to her, my wisdom teeth could stay.  I didn't have any problems that I was told about during my last visit, either.

I will plan on mentioning this when I see my doctor next, but I still wish I had some idea of what this could be!  There isn't a thing turning up in my searching except for someone asking the same question as I, but nobody was able to suggest anything to her, either.

Thank you for your responses!  They're very appreciated.

I would recommend an ENT (ear nose throat specialist) evaluation if you have not done that yet

How long have the symptoms been present?  Any history of trauma or anything that seems to make it feel better/worse?  What other symptoms besides pain are you getting?  Is it a throbbing, aching, sharp, sensitive, etc type of pain?

Are your wisdom teeth still present?  When was the last time you saw a dentist?
