Ganglion cyst in wrist

Got my MRI Results back today,,,,seems I have a ganglion cyst in the wrist, which is causing the push-up pain.  Has anyone had anything like this before, and if so, what did you do?

Yep, twice.  Both times it went away on its own.

how long did it take for them to go away?

It has been a long time since I had them but each was several months if I can recall.

i had one also, it went away after a few months, came back and then went away again and hasn't been back. very annoying though...

Doc told me today not to get it drained,,its only 7mm X 3mm, said it should go away on its own.  Just a pain, because it causes pain while Im doing pushups, and while Im in the fire academy, we do lots of pushups!  Thanks for all your input

I had one about 12 years ago.  It got huge.  The day before I was to have it drained I was picking up my kids toys off of the floor, kneeled on a lego and all of my weight went on that arm.  It ruptured (internally).  The next day I went to the doctor and he said my body was absorbing it and just leave it alone.  Haven't had one since.

I have a place on my left hand, just left to the middle in the fatty area below the thumb.It is not visible but I can feel the lump when I press doen on the area. It's been there for a year or more but the pain is increasing. If I do certain things that involve the left hand, like using tools or bending it in a certain way, I get substantial pain beginning where the lump is and spreading through that area of my hand and down the wrist. The area continually stays sore and the situation is getting old. I read that they used to take a Bible and slam it on the cyst and it would burst and wouldn't bother the individual any longer. I wonder if that's true or just a bad idea. Also, if not a cyst, what other possibilities are there?

Oh, I am reading your post and had a wave of memory flash pain.
I have had a cyst on the side of my left had between the end of my thumb and wrist for 20 years. Sometimes it gets so big and hard, I cry with pain. I bump it all the time and it hurts BAD. Many years ago a friend who heard that same bible trick did this as a surprise for me. He used one of those underwater flashlights and hit it HARD right in the center. I tell you childbirth was not as painful and to this day there is a small dip right in the center of it where he hit it. It will not work so DO NOT believe it!
I am scheduled for surgery to have it removed FINALLY, next week. It is not hazardous to my health just my comfort......
