Does anybody have a cure for sunburn?  I spent the week-end at the ostrich festival with my kids,(4 and 9) and forgot that with the antibiotic the Dr. has me on I'm suppose to be careful of the sun. i live in the desert and we have had 2 days of over 80 degree weather.  So I'm as red as a lobster.  Help...julie

Julie - I don't have a solution myself, but am also looking for One.
I recently went to the beach and spent the day there. (11am to 5pm). Despite wearing sunblock, and reapplying the length of exposure made pretty sure I was burnt bright red.

I haven't slept in around 4 days now, as my skin is in a constant state of agony. I continually apply aloe vera sprays to my skin, but still the pain persists.

Do you have any of these side effects?

and does anybody have any advice, or an estimate on how long it will take to heal?

Try a bath in warm water with a LOT of white vinegar in the water - maybe a full 1/2 gal jug of white vinegar to a tub full of water.  It takes some of the sting out.  Get out your softest sheets (higher thread count = softer)

Noxema will help with sunburn pain, apply it gently.

If you catch it the first day you can also use tea (many many teabags in hottest water you've got in the tub, then cool down the water a bit after it brews).  Since this is not day 1, the vinegar will probably help more.

Sunburn sucks.  Good luck.

Oh my God when you are on treatment you simply CANT go in the sun - shoot it used to burn me through the car windows and they had treatment on them!  I made the mistake of trying to tan once.............turned bright purple in half the normal time I used to tan.

I actually learned that VINEGAR will help but you've got to soak it on your skin believe it or not. I took a BATH in the stuff...it was so gross but it did help.

I read it on the internet.  Google sunburn cures...that's what I did.

I was still red but after using that and then lotioning up with vitamin E oil I didn't peel at all.  It's really really gooey but it will help you not peel.

I will share with you what the ER charged me 400.00 to tell me.  My husband got sunburned, took a shower and had a reaction to the soap on top of the sunburn. He was like a mexican jumping bean so I took him to the hospital. They recommend Noxema skin cream. It takes the burn out and provides moisture. It really works.
