Change in hair stucture?

Weird question I know but has anyone noticed a change in their hair stucture since being on treatment? I have very curly hair and sometimes have it chemically straightened, this lasts for about 4-6 months before it starts curling again. I last had it done before I started treatment and am week 41 of 48 and my hair is still growing through faily straight, only signs are a slight wave... just wondering if anyone else has noticed a change in how their hair grows, or perhaps it really has nothig to do with treatment. I tend to blame a lot of things on treatment these days!

This tx does do some really strange things to the hair. I also lost about 60% of my hair and my hair before was always pretty thick for blonde but straight but during tx,,,It had absolutely no texture at all,,,just straight as a board.  I thought maybe because it was so thin and the rest of the hair on body,,,LOLOL Now that I think about it,,,I can't help but laugh because WHY????  I remember when my daughter came home from college and had not seen me for about 4 weeks and we were eating dinner and she said "mom,,why is your eyebrows stuck straight out"  ROFL and here I thought it went unnoticed....Not!  Never had to shave my legs but maybe twice and yep the hair does come back ladies,,,in all places LOL

My hair came back curly still but it was like straw. I has waist lenght hair. So this gave me a reason to cut it short and I mean short. When you feel bad nothing like putting some jell in it and go.

My hair got totally straight on treatment - I was hoping the curls would never come back. Well, I am a little over one year post treatment and my hair as curly as it used to be :(

As I said on another post, I experienced 50% curl loss, and I've been off treatment for two years. I doubt if it will ever curl 100% again. However, I may have bought two years of life after three torturous treatments. I

I had a thick head of hair with massive curls prior to the tx. Now my hair is thin and I can't get it any straighter.  Wow I sure do miss my curls. Now just to get body I mousse, jelly, wax & hair spray (Not all at once). With the head aches I get it is even hard to do that.

I too had very curly hair which became poker straight and absolutely lifeless while on tx. I've been off the tx for 7 months and my hair is getting curly and full again. I was on tx for the better part of 4 years and my hair was a real mess but now it's almost back to normal. Mike

My hair got so weird on tx I had no idea what to do with it. It was normally thick and wavy and I did not have to worry much about it. On tx it became straight and floppy because it was so thick and some days I could do nothing with it so I wore a hat.

Today (been off tx about 16wks) my looked at me and said my hair looked good and was it growing in. A week ago it was weird. I got to the point I just said the heck with it and wore a hat and this was off tx. So much for the hair sides..

Take Care

Docsgold, that comment of yours that what should grow no longer does and what should not grow does was hilariously understated.    I keep threatening to acquire a wardrobe of plaid skirts and knee socks, but the electrified eyebrows and moth-eaten hair hardly fit the schoolgirl profile.   Oh well....

I still have the nausea. I had an xray that revealed blockage in my intestines otherwise known as constipation. Lovely! I did not expect that because I am pretty "regular". I am still not sure I beleive the dx on that. The doc ordered a scrip for this and said I would always need meds and "eat more fiber".  Like I said I am not sure I am buying this. It started about my third month into tx which is exactly the time I got hyper thyroid. I'm just not sure what to think now. Thanks for asking. It's great that you can be on such a low dose of thyroid meds. I have read a couple people here who actually did get off the meds after finishing tx. That would be absolutely great for you. What does your doc say? It seems it would be worth at least a try. I've dreamed of that myself but I am on 100 now and think I might even need 112. LL

Yes, I have definitely had changes in my hair thinning, but has stopped now.  The most annoying change is in body hair--what should grow no longer does and what should not grow does, etc.  I hope all that returns to normal once tx is over.

How are you?  Did you get your nausea and GI problems under control?  Hope so.  And you are so right, it is hard to determine what is causing side effects while on tx.
BTW, my synthroid has been reduced, seems I was on a bit much giving me a very strong, rapid heart rate (of course other symptoms).  Back down to 50 mcg, dare I hope to get off the synthroid along with the hepc tx?  LOL, stranger things have happened.

Yes, hair does often dry and straighten on tx. Typically it thins also. Don't feel bad for blaming everyhting on tx, I did too and found out some things were not HCV or TX related (BUT many were, it's so hard to tell the difference). LL
