Rash

Okay, week 35 and have not had a single issue with my skin.
Now, I just started getting a rash, small little bumps on my upper chest, and armpits.
From what I understood, the people who get the rash usually get it early on in tx. That it is some kind of allergy to the meds.
My question is this, could it be from the Riba, or possibly the Prevacid that my Dr gave me last week. I read the sx's of Prevacid, and it states rash as possible sx. I stop using it yesterday, but the rash does seem to be spreading.

What remedies you all have for it? What has your Dr's Rx'ed you for rash, and does it go away? Currently I have been putting Caladryl on it, and witch hazel.

I'm laughing WITH you....  and it's good to hear from you again.   Just keep crossing those days off the calendar.  It'll be over sooner than you think--or not soon enough, maybe?   Take good care.

I see my name has been dropped re my recommendation of tea tree oil.  It appears I may have spoken before experiencing REAL itching.  There is that generalized itching that doesn't seem to be on top of your skin, just makes you feel like randomly scratching everywhere, mostly at night.  And then there's these skin issues.  I don't have the standard riba rash...one of my elbows broke out in horribly itchy stuff recently...it did not respond to tea tree oil...I scratched the skin off until it itched AND hurt.  At that point, I scrounged around in my medicine cabinet and found an RX given me several yrs ago for eczema on my ankle.  It seems to be working well--the miserably itchy elbow is cleared up for now--but I can't recommend this med because I don't even know if it is liver friendly, not to mention that it's long since expired.  Hopefully, I haven't done myself serious damage.  To the lab & dr this week.

Now wait just a minute, young lady!  The reading public has a right to know that you cohabit with two cats and the creepy crawlies of which you speak are usually known as FLEAS.

Actually, we revere the excitable little critters asround here.  One of the main thoroughfares through Silcon Valley is named Alameda de las Pulgas.

Forgot about aloe, but that's a terrific suggestion for His Itchiness.

I am on wk 28/48, and have itchy rashes on my stomuch and face.
Califia, those creepy crawly bugs are over at my house also, all over my legs for about 2 days after shot night, making it difficult to sleep. I found a product called aloelife skin gel helpful for the rash.  Is is 99% certified organic whole leaf aloe vera.  www.aloelife.com.  It is a bit gooey, and puts a covering over the skin which stopped the itching.

I had rashes on my wrists and back of hands and some spots on my legs, but they would come and go early, early in tx.  The rash finally settled on my upper back, chest, shoulders and almost to my tummy.  The rash came and went--like everything else you could never pinpoint what would happen.  The dermatologist gave me an rx (desoximetasone cr/eucerin) which the pharmacy mixed up and helped the itching greatly.  The itching was awful at night.  The cheapest and best "equipment" for the sides cost me $2--a bamboo back scratcher which stayed at my bedside table.  He gave me samples of elavil to use on my face. I also took allegra during the day to help. Can't imagine you got away so long without many problems.  How fortunate for you.  Good luck and I hope you find something that helps you.

Snook,

I had big big problems with rashes.  The itching is horrible.  I would suggest that you not use witch hazel or anything that is drying to the skin.  I used over the counter cortizone cremes but to no avail.  My dermotologist gave me a prescription for triamcinolone acetonide for the itching which helped.  Nothing worked great because I believe it was the riba and since we continue to take it - the rashes continue on and off.  Stay very hydrated, lots and lots of moisturizing lotion. Seems like the itching got worst at night.

It did finally go away.  I hope you won't have to live with this for too long.

If it gets really bad, you'll probably be prescribed some kind of cortisone-based thing.  But I'm with Honey--just try to ignore the dem thing.  It'll run its course.   I've had bright red speckly cheekbones for the last several weeks, and all of a sudden my forehead and scalp have started to crawl again, the invisible insect syndrome, doncha know.  Week 52, m'dear, so go figure.    I like lavender oil for soothing inflamed skin, and Laika swears by tea tree oil, FYI.    Just don't scratch!

Snook,my riba rash did'nt show up till late in tx also(after 24 weeks about?)It appeared on my forearms which made it easy cause I could use vaseline to keep them from drying further and spreading and shirtsleeves covered it up.Do your best to not dry out skin-cooler baths-gentle towel dry and right away moisturize before you get drier. I used allmay milk plus moisturizer on face cause that skin has always been sensitive but fortunately for me was almost unaffected by tx. I think it is like an allergic reation and the longer one is on tx the more likely it will occur. If it itches bad the caladryl is very good. frank

Snook,,,Sounds like riba rash to me and you can put a few things on to relieve itching but in my experience,,,,it would just run its course and start to clear on its own.  I'm surprised you have gone through tx and just now showing a break out.
