Three days ago a went under a GI upper procedure. Dr said I have gastritis and he found a polyp that it was removed. Unfourtunately because I was under the effects of the anesthitia , I do not remember very clear what he told me. My companion said that the dr said that the polyp was not cancerous, but still he sent it to the lab, it will take seven days to get the results and i am very scare, I have never  heard about stomach polyps. Does  any one can let me know if i should be so concern.

While it has been some time since your initial post, how did the endoscopy go, have you had colonoscopy done and eliminated the posibility of Familial Polyposis.

Hi chabe06, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old are you? I ask this because all of the information that I've found thus far says that  stomach polyps are more common in people age 60+. I am 21 years old and just had a fluoroscopy done on Friday. It came back negative for what my doc was looking for, but the nurse called me yesterday to tell me that they found "several" polyps in my stomach. I'm having an upper endoscopy done on Monday. I was just curious to see if anyone else had, had stomach polyps at such a young age? I wouldn't be too worried though, as most stomach polyps are benign and usually do not increase your risk of cancer (except for adenomas).

A lot of people have stomach polyps, so don't get stressed out. Make sure you get the reports of the pathology exam - read it yourself and make sure you understand what that report says.
