Good luck to you!  I started on an AD, and I noticed I've stopped worrying as much.  It has been a relieve.  Please post what you find.

Ah aren't the Ads the BEST?  I had no idea how marveously helpful it was really going to be - I am SO GLAD you went out and got them!!!

Shell - I failed my 12 week test (stayed at 400 from week 4 to week 12) and was VERY upset. My doctor however was not and he kept me on treatment. He said look you had a 3 log drop in the first four weeks it IS working have faith.

So I stayed on course and somewhere in between 12 and 24 got UND.  Now I have two strains so I have a worse chance than most but what I want to say to anyone is don't get too freaked if it's NOT undetectible because it will still happen.

If it did for me it can for anyone.

Just got my two week post treatment (tx) test results.  Thought they would interest those who are about to complete tx.  My HGB is back to 13.4 from 11 at the end of treatment - thats a 2 1/2 pt rise in two weeks! The WBC have normalized and all of the other blood values are pretty close to normal.  Figured there was a reason I was feeling a bit stronger and my mouth sores getting better.  More importantly, my ALT and AST, which were above normal during treatment have dropped into the low range!  This means that our theory about tx causing elevations was actually true! Go figure. So needless to say, I am very happy with these results.

Couple of things though - has anyone had dizziness neck pain/headache after completing tx?  This seems to go along with mouth and tongue sores and pain.  I was thinking some lingering neuro sides or perhaps sinus infection that is slowly resolving with the return of my blood values.

Finally, I did not get a viral load as I am waiting 12 weeks to get one. I figure all this stuff will be pretty much out of the system by then and the test should be pretty reliable.  My question is - what are the TMA tests I need?  Jim said something about a regular TMA and another quantitative test?  I have a script for Heptimax. Is there something else I need along with it?

Hi....I sure am glad that I got the ADs.  I've probably have always needed them because I've been a worry wart since I was a child.  That is probably why I was such a party animal when I was younger.  I was running away from the worrying.  I go back to the specialist next week, and will get all my results and get my biopsy scheduled.  I do know that my Ultrasound looked great. Still need the biopsy, though, so I will know exactly where I stand.
I want to thank you because you have been an inspiration to me with your positive upbeat attitude!

You know it sounds like we are very close here because I think about the same exact thing!  I tell you at night NOT having all those THOUGHTS floating around like jets in my head is such a RELIEF (will I make the bills? is this a lump? did I do my work today? stupid stuff that just floats around making me more and more and more anxious!)  I really think I have needed them all of my life and never knew it too!

You never have to thank me for anything you know...you wait - you are just like me and you are going to be such an encouragement to other new people.  If it weren't for the "passing it on" attitude of this board I just don't know if I would have had the guts or the smarts to make it you know?

Docs know what they know but face it that is ALL drug company driven information.  People in here know real life experience...and that is so helpful it's beyond words!

(PS I was quite a party-aholic in my younger days too which is why I ended up with this disease anyway LOL - but isn't it amazing how much we "selfmedicated" to try and get away from FEELING?) Wow.

It's wonderful getting to know you Pam, I'm very glad you joinned the forum!  :)

The ultrasound shows you if you have any tumors or cancer and such.  The biopsy will show you how much liver damage you have.

Two totally different things.

You really do need to have the biopsy - it sounds painful but it's all in our heads. When they told ME it wouldn't hurt I just didn't believe them either ;)

When you know the results then it helps you to REALLY know what is going on inside and helps you make decisions based on the RIGHT information (not viral load and things like that which DONT matter really. I heard Pam Anderson say that she monitors her VL to see if she needs to do treatment (she is not) on tv once and almost punched the tv - what misinformation).  Hopefully she's learned more by now...she should come in here.

Hey are YOU PAM?  hahahahahahaha

Have a great Tuesday.

Debby, Thanks...It's great getting to know you.  Your post sounds just like me with the thoughts constantly floating around in my head worrying about this and that.  Although, since the AD has kicked in, I feel like it's under control and I can actually enjoy life.  I can remember as far back as elementry school having the fear.  I don't like to admit, but I started partying when I was 11 years old.  I know it was self medicating.  I look at my 12 year old and thank god she is not where I was at that age.

I agree about the biopsy.  I am definately getting one.  I am actually not afraid anymore.  I want to know what condition my liver is in.  I was just glad that they didn't see any tumors during the ultrasound. I think I was more worried about the ultrasound than the biopsy.

Pam Andersen I am not...I didn't know she isn't treating.  I wonder what genotype she is.  I read Wyona Judd's website, and she said she cleared the virus, but still get a biopsy every 3 to 5 years.

I had nasty neckaches and headaches all through tx.  They finally started to go away about 3 - 4 weeks after tx. Since that about the amount of time for riba to dissipate, I assumed they were riba-induced.  Hopefully, they'll go away soon.  The lower enzymes, as Kalio says, is good news.

Hi FlGuy,

I hope you are doing well.  Do you think the neckaches people describe are like tension neckaches?  Does Riba make a person hyper?  I was just wondering because if I drink too much coffee and get overstimulated, my neck hurts.  I haven't started treatment yet.

could be tension related. The oncoming headaches on tx were similar to tension headaches for me in that thay began in the neck and worked their way up to the back and side of my head.  I still get them, but only to the frequency that I had them before tx. I stopped drinking many years ago - except for the very rare beer because of almost spontanteous headaches from alcohol - so I guess they are like 'hangover headaches'too.

Yes Riba DOES indeed have the ability to make us hyper BIG TIME.  That is why I take 3 in the morning at 7am and then only 2 at 7pm - and also why I believe that I need to take the Ambien every single night.

I dont notice any physical difference at all BUT I know that I just can't sleep. Lots of us cant on in which is why the sleep aids are so precious!

I am naturally hyper.  Like right now my leg is tapping.  I can only tolerate one cup of coffee a day or else it will keep me up at night.  Anyway, I better ask for the Ambian for sleep up front.  I panic when I can't fall asleep.  Thanks for the info

I am not sure what my headaches are from, but they sound like yours. If you read before, I have a history of severe migraines. These feel different though. They do start in my neck and cover my head and don't seem to go away no matter what I take.

It seemed that I had more when my WBC was low and when I was taking that nuestra and aranesp. This week no rescue drugs! Yeah! I go tomorrow to find out my CBC stats.

I am feeling really achy bones today, hopefully that isn't a sign of some WBC or Hgb going down again.

I had my bx 10 days ago.  They called in 7 to tell me they had the results.  The nurse would not give me to much info but did say i was between mild and moderate.  ANyway the Bx does not really hurt.  Bring a book or crossword puzzle as it is boring to lay there for several hours.
