How long does it take?

I was just diganosed with chlamydia and I was treated with two 500mg azithromicin pills to be taken in one dose. I took the medication last week and my husband took it yesterday. |The same dose|. How soon can we assume it's safe to have sex without infecting each other again?

I still don't know.  I was married for 15 years and then I went straight to my second marriage.  I have been married for 10 months. I suppose my second husband had it and didn't know about it.  Maybe he cheated on me, I don't know.  We are trying to work things out.  The doctor said sometimes you could have this for years an not know about it.  I know i have not been sleeping around, but I don't know about my husband's previous girlfriends. Thanks for your answer.

most places tell you to wait 1 week after the medication has started, some places say 2 weeks. but normally 1 week is good enough.
