I would just like to quote George W on this one:"Fool me once...shame on......shame on...well you won't fool me again!"

by GrandOak, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
Since you opened it up:

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."

I'm whispering "I was lost,"

Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak

and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed

and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not claiming to be perfect,

My flaws are far too visible

but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I still feel the sting of pain,

I have my share of heartaches

So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not holier than thou,

I'm just a simple sinner

who received God's good grace, somehow.

thanks for posting that. it was very inspirational!

by cuteus, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
it looks like MH might be putting a thread limit again, after the feeding frenzy of the latter months.

just in case, please be considerate of the threads, and limit the waste.  Someone tried to post a question today and was told that the limit was reached, and here we get this useless thread, that wasted someone's chance for a question.  This might be the reason why MH is going to start limiting the amount of questions asked daily, because it has become a playground of sorts and it has lost a bit of authority in the medical forum field, when visitors come into the board and click on a thread link and see this, what kind of credibility are they going to expect?

by SoCal Lady, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
What a self-involved poem (above)!  "I"- "I" - "I"...35 references to me, me, me, in a 28 line poem.  Maybe it's time to move beyond the drama of ones personal conversion story and just live a life of compassion and generosity.  No need to draw attention to individual beliefs that suggest that all should believe in concepts such as "sin", "salvation", etc.

by Forseegood, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
it's good to know that they are limiting threads again, as a prime thread waster myself, even I can't believe the amount of sillyness that goes on here, good, bad or indifferent...and too much negativity as well...sometimes I have to remind myself there are a lot of sick people here, needing support and information, which, afterall, is the ultimate purpose of a Hepatitis C Support Board...

Hmmmm....that's odd: You say you don't get "bent out of shape", but you sound bent out of shape...

twisting words..... I don't get bent out of shape if someone has a different belief in politics or religion. They state it and fine. Could care less if someone posts about worshipping a doorknob or alien. I'm not going to say what you say.."ooh ooh why can't they just keep worshipping their doorknob to themselves and off the forum" BTW look at title of thread.

Trying to explain to someone that this is America, land of the free, home of the brave, as I tried to explain to you, is just defending my 'great country' in my little way.

The ACLU and the rest of the liberals have destroyed this country, but I still will speak up about allowing people to express themselves freely. They haven't come to our doors to haul us away,YET.

A lot of people agreed on voting day that the Republicans have damaged this country, but you just "stick to your guns" since that seems to be where your comfort level is....

by GoofyDad, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
Oh Joy. Just when I said nothing was going to ruin my colonoscopy free day, this thread comes along, which ironically shares a lot with the state of my colon, and why they postponed the procedure. Lack of proper preparation leaves me full of you-get-the-idea.

I'm tempted to get 'revved' up and prostalize about my own beliefs, but that would only make the people who don't share those beliefs uncomfortable. And I don't believe that would be fair, since we all share this space. Of course, were I running a MLM system, well I'd probably be compelled to be more vocal.

Why are you posting that here? Tell Maya, she wrote it. It amazes me how crazed you get,,,you even counted how many lines in the poem. You have to ask yourself "why" sometime as to why you get so disturbed. I know you believe in diversity, because after all isn't that what Democrats preach?

Have you noticed that none of us, that you may consider as the religious right, ever complain about all the shots taken at Republicans and politically sensitive issues? WE TRULY believe in the true meaning of diversity and don't get bent out of shape when people disagree with our views. But I've noticed that you never come out when someone is preaching politics? If I knocked Hillary or some other socialist,I mean Democrat,I bet I'd hear an earthquake over their on your side from a few of you stamping your feet.

see ya

Re: the ACLU-

If your newly elected Muslim mayor displayed the Seven Pillars of Islam outside of City Hall, the ACLU would bring a lawsuit against the city.  Would you be opposed to such a lawsuit?

If your child's school expelled him because he had HCV, the ACLU would bring a lawsuit against the school district.  Would you be opposed to such a lawsuit?

Few people agree with everything the ACLU does, but it exists to defend the personal rights of American citizens.  Each person would do well to do independent research on issues rather than merely receiving the opinions and beliefs that they are encouraged to hold by their churches and other institutions.

goofydad~~~You're funny!  So sorry about your postponement.  How annoying.  Hey!  The title of the thread is Politics and Religion.  I think a little controversy is energizing, don't you?

Just to tell ya something....I'm not happy with the way the Pres. has handled things either. I'm sorry I voted for him, to tell you the truth. But had no choice. If he was able to run again, I would vote Democrate, just to send a message. I know I wouldn't be happy with any of the Democrats I've seen either. They don't have anyone who impresses me. Both sides are for the birds, as far as I am concerned. But that aside, if you ever want to research something that may be of interest to you,,check out the genesis of the ACLU. Anyone who thinks the ACLU is a good organiztion should really check out their origin and agenda.

See ya later,

Have a good night.

I wouldn't go to a Muslim country and expect to hang a cross in front of the court house if I moved there and became Mayor. You can finish the rest of what I was going to say. OW,my ears,, is that you yelling all the way from California? lol

Goof,,,you're so funny lots of laughs around your house for sure.

by SoCal Lady, Nov 09, 2006 12:00AM
To: myown
No you certainly would not go to a Muslim country and hang a cross because Muslim countries are not democracies that protect the individual rights of their citizens.  We live in a country where our right to worship (or not) is protected, but what is NOT allowed is the display of religious artifacts in public places.  Christians have the Bible, their churches, fellowships, a multi-billion dollar Christian book and music industry, TBN, and a multitude of online resources, yet they somehow feel like their right to espress their beliefs is somehow abridged by the "evil" ACLU.

I just went to the website you recommended:  The website is from 1961 and asserts that the ACLU is a front for Communism.  Are you out of your mind?  Have you ever heard of the 1950's Communist witch hunt?  Could you please find more recent evidence that the ACLU exists to promote Communism?

This may be of interest because its an interview, which makes for a more interesting read. Maybe if you read some of the shocking things that they have done, that many are unaware, you may see them in a different light. Any group that does what they have done and continue to try to do is not for liberty and freedom. They are looking to destroy everything our country stands for.

Also Dr James Kennedy has some videos exposing the ACLU. He has a website, if your interested.
