I have had about 5 biopsys and yes i had shooting pain after most of them up thru my nipple from the lump but seemed to go away after a while but get shooting pain from my lumps anyway if i knock them or playwith them or poke them.i think it may be normal after biopsy ;-)

I had a stereotactic breast biopsy done 6 days ago, and I am here to say it was the most barbaric, dehumanizing and excruciating experience I have ever gone through. Mind you, I have a VERY high pain threshold...I had all my babies with a midwife, natural childbirth...26 hours worth, so I am not a panzie.
One shot of lidocaine in the breast does not cut it for anesthesia. It felt like searing dart guns were piercing my breast.
My entire right breast is black and blue...and my surgeon states it may take 4 months for the brusing to go away. I am still in alot of pain, and I, too, had nightmares several nights after the proceedure.
I was told that I could drive myself...big mistake. I was in so much pain after the proceedure I could barely get home.
I would suggest bringing a friend or family member.
I don't know if my nightmare experience was due to the fact I live in a rural area, and perhaps my "surgeon" was not as experienced...( all the women who had the proceedure done the day I did experienced alot of pain....(they only do the proceedure once a month here).
I would strongly suggest asking for more anesthesia than one shot of lidocaine....and I like the fact some women are offered valium...nice to see some ladies are treated more humane than I was.
