do fibroadenomas' pain?

Hello

I am 34 years of age, and for the past year had a feeling of a lump on my right breast towards the outer side. I went to a gyno, she exmained it and diagnosed it as such. she suggested to have it removed. I was hestitant, as not am i afraid, but also am getting married soon, and even though discussing with my fiance, and being asked to go ahead with it, still i am reluctant.
I do not notice any pain there, and during my menstrual cycle, there is little pain, but otherwise, even though i touch it, all i feel is the mass, and no such discomfort.
My question is to any concerned doctor, or anyone friend who has the similar case of fibroadenoma.
As I was aware benign tumors pain , and malignant ones do not.
So please guide me as to whether I should go ahead with surgery and should i worry about the decrement of my breast size?
thanks alot for even reading

regards

hi
thankyou for replying to my question.
yes i do plan to go ahead and have a mammogram done, as i was dicussing with fiance he was of the same opinion.
he even reassured me that it is his descretion, that anything be changed in my physical stats, and he does not mind as health comes first, but i said i still would not have it done, and so the safest option would be to go and get a mammogram done, only hope nothing more complex comes in that.
but hey thanx for ur suggestion

many regards

Fibroadenomas do cause discomfort or actual pain and this can be cyclical as you described. These benign tumors can be resmoved if they become very troublesome but they are usually just left alone; especially in someone under the age of 40. I don't see any reason for surgical removal if you are reluctant to do so. You can always proceed with surgery at a later time if the tumor grows or causes you considerable pain. My only question is, without benefit of either Mammogram or Ultrasound. how can one be absolutely certain of the diagnosis. You only stated that your GYN examined your breasts. I personally would like some further investigation before making a decision about having or not having the surgery. Regards .....
