mixed messages on other sites

Was talking with a friend yesterday and discussing my (and from what I've read, many others) conundrum between wanting to get off pain meds....it's elevated to addiction and has complete control over my life-(am taking 8-10 Norco 10/325 at least QID, ie. 4x per day.)  and after being on them since major accident in 1997,  can't imagine not being on them or maybe terrifed of.....
Anyway she mentioned suboxon sp?  I'm no stranger to steppers, read old threads on other sites, tagged the site for subox.  I have a background in healthcare, haaa!  I know the pharm co. will tout the bene's I'm familiar with how they work.  
Now the "get off the pills" site is great and all but most of them are pretty, pro cold turk.  Which is great if it works for them, the problem is I have a heart defect and everytime I've tried I've ended up with an MI (heart attack) or other serious heart probs.
Sooooo n e way.....I can do the research, educate myself on materials, etc.  what I'm looking for is personal feedback.  Some of  these other sites are proporting that it is addictive (what can't be?) and in the end is harder to break.  Hmmm.   F*ing ridiculous that I've put all this crap in myself but researching this I know.   I don't think methadone is the answer for me.
