Your Guide to Prenatal Tests

Your First Trimester

Your First Trimester

In the earliest stage of your pregnancy (the first three months), you’ll visit your doctor monthly. Beginning in your first trimester, and continuing through the end of your pregnancy, you can expect to have your blood pressure, weight and urine checked at each doctor’s appointment. Starting between weeks 10 and 12, your doctor will start checking your baby’s fetal heart rate. These tests will help your doctor spot any potential health problems early, as well as ensure that your baby’s growth is on track. In addition to those routine tests, there are some others that are particular to your first trimester.
