Caring for someone with Alzheimer's is not easy. A person with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease will require help in all aspects of daily functioning. An Alzheimer's caregiver will first need to learn how to properly communicate with the patient. They should be ready to deal with unpredictable behaviors. Remember to always show respect towards the person. Daily structured activities that were previously discussed should be planned and administered. Meals should be prepared and served in a quiet, non-distracting environment. Caregivers may need to perform some intimate personal tasks, like helping the patient dress and bathe, as well as assist with dental hygiene.
