What is MedHelp?

MedHelp is an online healthy community that connects users with the leading medical experts and others who have, or have had, similar experiences. MedHelp users can receive the support they need from other patients, research information on drugs and health topics, and share their knowledge and experiences with others in need. In order to better help our online community manage its health, MedHelp also provides such interactive tools as trackers and tickers and PHR (personal health records), and we aim to better connect users through notes, journals, and photos, among other applications. You can learn more about MedHelp here.

Is there a fee to join MedHelp?

No, signing-up for a MedHelp account is free. Upon joining the MedHelp community, you will have access to the complete list of features offered by MedHelp, including your own profile page, personal health trackers and tickers, and many other applications. Posting questions in all support communities is free, but posting questions on some of our Ask a Doctor forums may require a fee. MedHelp is advertising-supported.

How can I ensure the protection of my identity on MedHelp?

Never give out your password or any information that could be used to identify you in public forums or profiles (e.g. names, where you live, e-mail addresses). If you wish to share such information with another user, use the private message feature instead. Never give money to another user.

Is my profile public?

A user’s profile is made public to everyone, not just MedHelp users; do not put personally identifiable information to your profile page. However, you can change who sees applications on your profile (e.g. journals, photos, trackers). If you are uncomfortable with who is able to see your applications, you may change the privacy settings located under “Account Settings” from your profile page.

How do I report abuse on MedHelp?

MedHelp takes the well-being of its users very seriously. You may report abuse in forums, journals, or on notes by logging in and clicking “Report” located on the post or note and selecting the type of abuse from the drop down. For additional help on reporting abuse, contact us here.

Someone I know would really benefit from the services available on MedHelp. How can I tell them about MedHelp?

Much of the knowledge and support about medical conditions comes from our users. As a person who may have faced a similar medical condition as another user, your experience is invaluable. You can spread the word about MedHelp by suggesting our site by word of mouth, e-mail, or even adding tickers and links to our website to other online communities (e.g. MySpace, MSN Spaces, Yahoo!
