What is Orinase?

Tolbutamide is in a class of drugs called sulfonylureas. It is used to help control blood sugar
levels.
Tolbutamide is used with diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Insulin or metformin
(Glucophage) may also be used in combination with tolbutamide, if necessary.
Tolbutamide may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
