What is U-Cort?

U-Cort 1 %-10 % Topical Cream
Drug Name: HYDROCORT ACET/UREA-TOP
Other Brand Names: Carmol HC
Uses: This medication is a combination of hydrocortisone and urea. It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, rash). Hydrocortisone reduces swelling, itching, and redness (symptoms of inflammation, allergic reactions). This medication is a mild corticosteroid. Urea is an emollient that softens and moisturizes the skin, decreasing itching and flaking. Dry skin is caused by a loss of water in the upper layer of the skin. Emollients/moisturizers work by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin.
