What is pediagen?

Uses: This medication is used to treat middle ear infections in children. It is a combination of two antibiotics, erythromycin (a macrolide-type) and sulfisoxazole (a sulfa-type). This product works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic combination treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness. This medication should not be used in children younger than 2 months of age due to the risk of serious side effects.
