Uses: This medication is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is also used to treat a certain type of pneumonia (pneumocystis pneumonia) in patients with a weakened immune system. This medication is a combination of 2 antibiotics, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and the pneumocystis fungus.
