Uses: Fluvoxamine is used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It helps decrease persistent/unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and urges to perform repeated tasks (compulsions such as hand-washing, counting, checking) that interfere with daily living. Fluvoxamine belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). This medication works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals (neurotransmitters such as serotonin) in the brain.
