Called the doctor yesterday to see if he has got permission yet to be able to continue to give me the pain killers. He hasn't, so will call back to day as i am due for more on Sunday/. The good thing is, if he get's permission, he can give them to me for a month and I will only have to go back for more once before my surgery. The bad things is, if he doesn't get permission, I will have to see a different doctor and see what he thinks is best for me. Am very scared about that. If a different doctor doesn't think I should be on the pain medication I'm having at the moment, then I am screwed, it will be hard as a new doctor wont know what's been going on, except for what in my file and he might not really understand the pain I am in. Still waiting on appointment for the cardiologist, the pain management specials is booked out for 3-54 months so I doubt I will get to see him before my surgery and am also waiting for a physiotherapy appointment. The last 2 mornings I have woken up to really intense labour like pains that literally take my breath away. And the pain killers aren't totally stopping my lower back pain either. Everyday just seems to drag on forever! Will be calling the doctor today to see is he has permission and if I can see him or am going to have to see a different doctor. Fingers crossed he got permission because I really don't need any more complications at the moment. :(

Back to the G.P today to get a new script for painkillers. It is such a pain having to go every 10 days. My pain that is deep in my tail bone has been excruciating the last 5 days and even with all the pain med's that I have been taking , they are not even touching the pain. I have been beside myself the last 5 days, because of the pain but also because I am just so over it and am scared of the time before surgery if my pain is going to be at this level all the time for the next 7 and a half weeks. As soon as I walked in the doctors and he asked how I was I just broke down crying, and explained to him how bad my pain is getting and that it is so hard to deal with. He has given me oxyxcontin again as well as endone again to take for breakthrough pain between the oxycontin. I also take 2 panadol every 4 hours and he suggested nurophen as well as it may help as it is an anti-inflammatory. I think I really needed to just breakdown and let him really see how much pain I am in and how it is affecting me and my quality of life. I usually try to keep a brave face so maybe he didn't think I was really in a lot of pain. As I had the chest pain, I am being referred to a cardiologist, I really think it is referred pain from the mass as I had chest pain just before an ovarian cyst was found a few years ago. All tests I had for the chest pain were fine so I hope it is the same thing this time. I don't want there to be a problem and it affects my surgery. But I guess it is better to be safe then sorry when it comes to chest pain and surgery :) I explained to my G.P that I am concerned about how I am going to get through the next 7 weeks until surgery when my pain is getting worse each day, so I am being referred to a pain management specialist as well. As with the increase in tail bone pain, I think it is just the mass pressing on nerves or something but I have to have an x-ray and also go to physiotherapy. Depending on the results of these things, I may have to see a neurosurgeon, to determine weather a CT scan is in order or just and MRI. It seems like a huge stuff around, I don't get why I can't just get a CT scan. I've been told it's because of the radiation to the pelvis, and risks of infertility and because of my age they don't like to be quick to order CT scan. So, all in all, I have had my med's increased, which is helping a little, I have to have a lumbar x-ray, see a cardiologist, see a pain management specialist, go to physiotherapy and possibly see a neurosurgeon.  It tires me out just thinking about it, just getting up and having a shower everyday is exhausting. :)

Back pain

Went to my normal G.P yesterday and got a new script for oxycontin He wanted to put me back on just panadol forte and I nearly laughed in his face. I really don't think he get's that my pain is getting worse by the day and cutting back on the pain med's isn't going to do anything for me. I had started having sharp, stabbing left sided chest pain the night before and it was quite bad still when I saw the doctor so I got admitted to hospital. I had to have aspirin and a blood thinner shot. Was kept for observation for 24 hours and had a chest x-ray, multiple ECG's and D Dimmer blood tests done to compare the results over the 24 hours. Was also given morphine for the pain and 2.5mg didn't work so I was given another 2.5mg about half and hour later. It helped my chest pain bit but didn't even touch my lower abdo, pelvic and back pain, and that was with my oxyxontin and panadol as well! All the tests for my heart came back fine and I was discharged today. Will have to go back to my G.P in a week or so and he will arange for an ECHO and to see a cardiologist.

Went back to the doctors today to get my painkillers only to be told that I couldn't have them, well not the normal script anyway!  Being the weekend there is just one doctor who sees everyone and he is not my regular doctor. He said he will give me enough of the medication for today and tomorrow but I have to make another appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow as he is the one who started giving me the pain killers. Apparently it is a new rule with strong medication. Far enough, I get this but it is very frustrating that I have to go back to the doctors again tomorrow. That's 3 times in 3 day! Just once a week is enough for me, it is a big effort. The thing that annoyed me the most was the doctors attitude towards me. He said he doesn't agree with me being given these type of meds and that from what he has read on my file, it looks like just a corpus luteum cyst and 'we all get those'. Well, even if it was just a corpus luteum cyst, how rude of him to suggest that it doesn't cause me any pain. Also the gyno said he doesn't know what the mass is, it is just a mass until he does the surgery and sees what it actually is. The 2nd ultrasound I had, the ultrasound tech suggested on the report that it maybe a complex corpus luteum or Endometrioma, but the gyno has said he doubts it is either of these and he isn't 100% sure it is actually ovarian, it may be bowel related. I guess the doctor was just reading what was on my file, even though I told him what the gyno said. And as it continues to grow, it's obviously not going to go away on it's own. I was so angry and frustrated when I left the doctors. Like I said in my last post, I really wanted to say to the doctor, "well, you grow ovaries, have a mass on them and see how much it hurts!" I hate that with doctors if a piece of papers says that a certain medical problem should only have certain symptoms and you have more or different symptoms then you couldn't possibly have that problem. The doctor I saw today was really quite rude and I defiantly will be having a long chat with my normal doctor tomorrow. :(
