Time to Tone Up

I'm looking up ways to gain muscle without losing any more weight..  I'm about as slim as I should get.  Time to tone up.

According to the BMR index, I'll need to consume 2, 078 calories a day in order to achieve my goal.   I'll be doing much more research on this, fact finding & number crunching as well as daily brainstorming advice-sharing sessions with Danielle during our runs/walks at lunch.  
Since my friend Jacqueline has returned from London, and she's been training with weights for the past few years, I hope to get some good advice from her as well.

The run today felt good and it's becoming increasingly easy to do laps across the bridge without needing a break.  This is encouraging! :)

Physically, I'm currently in the best shape I've ever been, and I'm still just getting started.

2 Days Left until the Race!

I haven't trained nearly as much as I would have liked to, but I think I'm more or less ready for the 5km run on Friday morning.  

My friend Danielle and I have been keeping it at a very relaxed pace until she feels up for pushing for distance.  (Which she tells me won't be very long.)  

Needless to say I'm very happy to have her back from her maternity leave as we both have pretty hectic lives in the evenings and little to do at lunch hours and we both feel the benefits of running/speed walking with a partner instead of alone.  (I'm guilty of this pattern as I don't push myself as much when I run solo.)

Sunday evening runs will get a bit longer after this run, as was discussed, maybe 7kms to start and I'll work my way up to 10 kms.  But for now, I'm going to deal with the race I've signed up for.  :)

Stepping up

I'm surrounded by sick people!!! (There is a cold making its rounds here..)
Running was cancelled last night, so instead I dug a giant hole in my backyard (prep work for a small pond I'm placing there this summer) and took my three year old son for a walk (which means I piggy backed him atleast half of the time.   I put in my cardio for the day.  :)

I wasn't too concerned about David having to cancel due to a cold since Danielle and I were supposed to run today at noon, but she's cancelled on me as well, because now she's sick too!  :(

I didn't bring my mp3 player, but I'll run by myself.  I only have a few days of training left before the run on Friday so I can't let these constant change of plans mess up my running schedule.   From now on I have to promise myself to go whether someone wants to join or not.

I've convinced the sickly, yet sway-able Danielle to come out for a brisk walk atleast.  :P   I'll be running solo tonight, but I'll at least get some warm up for it at lunch.  lol   She loves-hates me right now.

Morning Run

I ran (leisurely) this morning because it was gorgeous outside when I woke up. It counts as exercise but I certainly did not push myself too much.  
I will make up for it when I start digging up my pond tonight.  :)
