Woman Saves Baby's Life --- by E-Mail !!

Aug 28, 2008 11:09AM - 1 comments

The feel good story of the day:

Woman spots baby’s eye cancer online

U.K. mom saw tumor that doctors missed: ‘Anybody would have done it’

It wasn’t easy for Madeleine Robb to send an e-mail to another mom warning that her baby might have a deadly form of eye cancer. But she’s glad she did it — and so is the mother of 1-year-old Rowan Santos.

“I didn’t want to scare her,” Robb told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira from London on Thursday. “But then I weighed out the options. If something wasn’t wrong, then no real harm was done. If something was wrong, I really had no option, so obviously I had to tell her.”

Just hours after reading the e-mail, Megan Santos of Riverview, Fla., learned from a doctor that Rowan has a potentially deadly form of childhood cancer called retinoblastoma.

Don't Know What U R Allergic 2 ?

chemicals; allergens

There are so many people now, including children, who have numerous allergies. For some reason, the number of people with allergies continues to grow and I suspect that it will keep growing. And when these people go to our allergist for help, he/she is only able to test us for a certain amount of allergens. So how do we know what we are allergic to and how do we find out ourselves ? I know in my case, my immune system was constantly fighting something that I could never tell what I was allergic to, probably because I was so overloaded !

In my quest for health.... one thing I've learned is to get rid of ALL of the toxic cleaners that I had in the house. I realized that I no longer needed them anymore. There are now cleaners that don't have any toxins, fumes, phosphates, perfumes and dyes. Baking soda and white distilled vinegar alone are two great cleaners. I now have a bottle of white distilled vinegar mixed in with water. And I purchased Bissell's mutli-purpose cleaner with vinegar to clean my windows. I also purchase Seventh Generation cleaners. Anyway, after I did all of this, I found a couple of chemicals in hair products that I was allergic to . These were products that I was using every single day and had I not removed those other toxic chemicals, I probably would have never known that I had other allergies. I can actually recognize when I'm having an allergic reaction now and know what I'm reacting to ! This has helped me a great deal and I would highly recommended this for people who have allergies and even for those people who don't have allergies as well. Why use toxic cleaners when we have safer alternatives ?

For those people who suspect that they have food allergies, there is a way to find out. For two weeks straight, you need to go without corn, wheat, dairy products and sugar. By the end of the two weeks, I suspect that you will be feeling better (I know I did). And then you slowly re-introduce these products one by one into your diet again. This way you can find out if you are allergic to any of these foods. You do not have to go without all four of these foods at once... you can start with the wheat products for two weeks and then do dairy the following two weeks.

Best,
