I am a new mom to a perfect baby girl named Eva.  I joined this forum during my horrible pregnancy Aug 07 - May 08.  I had too many complications to list but the end was perfect.  I had an ectopic pregnancy back in 1998.  Both were planned pregnancies.... [More]

Baby Girl 2nd Year

May 16, 2008 01:20PM - 2 comments

Well her 2nd year started out with Thrush.  No biggie.  She is 20lbs 7oz and 28"long.  About the 46th percentile.  She was terrified of Elmo at her party but liked the characters in Sesame Place.  Not sure why?

She can now point to her nose and say nose and will also point to her belly button and teeth when you ask where they are.  Sleeping habits and eating habits are very poor.  Episodes are behind us she is being treated for reflux and asthma.

Update - boy did I say that too fast.  She had another seizure on May 28th.  Here we go again.  She is still advanced in many ways - her food intake is poor.   Neurology is confident that she is not having seizures but that she just gets "THAT SICK" to the point of passing out.  Just as serious because her temp comes out of no-where and rises quickly.  It is a sit and wait now for it to happen again and try to get her to CHOP myself without calling 911.  911 takes us to a different hospital not advanced for Eva's care.

Eva likes to scream now.  She found her voice!  Its ok, we love it.  She also will repeat almost everything her favorite words being Clock and barking at the dogs.  She also has a boo boo and she loves to show it off.

Baby Girl's First Year

Mar 26, 2008 09:45AM - 0 comments

I gave birth via c-section on May 10th.  6lbs 13oz 19 1/2 " long.  Perfect baby girl.  She had a head full of black hair where we are not sure it came from.

She started to sleep through the night at 3 weeks.  9pm to 6am.  Perfect infant.

On October 8th our world changed forever.  It will be "hopefully" the worst day of my life for the rest of my life.  Our baby passed out in her father's arms with no warning.  When trying to wake her - her eyes would roll.  An ambulance was called and she was admitted to the hospital for 4 days.  It was ruled a Febrile seizure but after 2 more of the same episodes further testing was ordered and completed by the best hospital in the nation CHOP.  She had 4 months of testing and the end result is Reflux along with Asthma.  Airway issues and food digestion issues caused her to seize and turn blue.  Since being medicated she has been fine.  I owe that hospital my life.  I learned you have to literally fight to get help for your child.  The hospitals the ambulance would take me too would have to be the closest and not very good.  I literally had to punch a wall and say some non kid friendly words in the ER during the last episode to get the help I needed.  My advise to mom's BEAT PEOPLE UP.  Use your own judgment you are always right when it comes to your child.  I don’t care if you have a PhD or a GED.  (by the way I fall in the middle there - haha)

Once my daughter was stable I took her to CHOP and then came the answers.

During this process she had to see neurology who were very impressed with her advancement.  Not worried at all and no damage done.  THANK GOD.

Eva sat up on her own at 4 months
Walked at 7 months
Crawled at 9 months
Said basic words between 5 months and 7 months (mom, mom mom, da da, pop pop and bob)  She will now repeat anything you say at 10 months.  She can also say the alphabet up to the letter E.

She does not eat many solids due to my choice.  She also wants no parts of a sippy cup so lets see if I can update good news on that soon.

Baby #2 is being thought about now.

My Pregnancy

Mar 26, 2008 09:32AM - 1 comments

I lost twins due to an ectopic pregnancy in 1998.  That was a planned pregnancy so the loss was a hard one to handle.

I then planned to become pregnant again in 2006, which I did and immediately had complications.  At just 4 weeks pregnant I was bleeding and cramping in which an early ultrasound showed some irregular fluid so I was admitted for a laparoscopy.  Thank God it was just a cyst that ruptured and the baby was fine.  Too young to see on an ultrasound but just a few weeks later there she was.

At 9 weeks pregnant, I was a normal weight and healthy but still spotting.  My heart started to flutter and I was taken to the hospital.  For the first time ever I was admitted for a heart condition.  Turned out the overflow of blood and fluids was too much on my healthy heart and put me into Atrial Fibrillation in which medication could not bring me back to a normal beat.  After 9 days in the hospital I had to be cardioverted at 9 weeks.  Now at a high risk status and on heart meds all chances of nursing are out of the question and all activity out of the question.  I went on to gain 80lbs.  I went from a size 7 to a size only God knows.

I had morning sickness from 6 weeks until 7 months every single day.  I also worked full time during this pregnancy which was not easy.

Due to all the complications I chose not to find out the sex of the baby.  I needed a good surprise and I received it on May 10th.  I had my girl that I secretly really wanted.  Of course I would have loved a boy just as much but I really wanted a girl.  I named her after my late Grandmother who I know is the reason why she survived that awful pregnancy.

Yes, I would do it all again
