SVR12 at last!

Just found out that I am SVR12, that is that I'm cured. Fantastic! What can I say? A million thank yous to all who made this possible. Hallelujah! It's a feeling of total liberation. I can now get on with enjoying my life freely. Best wishes to all doing clinical trials. May FDA approval come soon for the new, interferon-free, treatments. They are unquestionably the way to go for most people.

12 week clinical trial

I was thrilled to get the news yesterday that I was UND at week 4 post treatment - early cure. So are the two others I know of who are doing this trial. We are incredibly fortunate. It really does look like this combo is the interferon and ribavirin free cure. Gilead and BMS must know if everyone who made SVR4 on the 24 week version of the trial also made SVR12. Are they not releasing the data because they don't want more pressure to go to Phase 3 trials? I suspect and hope that there was total concordance between SVR4 and 12, as there has been with other trials with 7977. Would love to know those results. But meanwhile I am a very, very happy man. Feel blessed and grateful.

Learned today that I was UND three weeks post treatment. Great new! SVR4 will be even better but I am thrilled to have made it this far. I think the odds are good that I will make SVR4 and, as we know, if you're going to relapse it will probably be in the first four weeks after treatment. I am very impressed by the 100% concordance between SVR 4, 12 and 24 in a previous study with GS 7977 plus peg and riba. 7977 really seems to be highly effective in preventing relapse (unless of course you're a null responder). I'm very pleased with my progress and hope to hear about SVR4 later this week.

Day 84

End of clinical trial

The 84th day of treatment is now over. No more meds. Feels a little poignant .. I'll be a bit bereft without my four pills with breakfast - the little, circular BMS, the large oblong 7977, both my tiny pals over the last 12 weeks. Every time I look at them I feel the decades of science and research and experimentation that went into those little but hugely powerful creations. I feel privileged to have been part of the first 12 week trial with this combo. If it succeeds it will be the shortest and most effective trial for Genotype 1s in Hep C history. All I can do now is stay positive and hope for the best. I'll be getting blood draws at Weeks 3 and 4. Fingers are crossed!!!
