I have been thinking about all of the posts people have made about divorcing after 20 or more years some when the children are grown, and i would like to know when you went off to college with your high hopes and dreams of having a certain goal or career in mind are you happy or would you have done the same thing this also applies to all people whether they finished school or not
i talked with g and she was married 53 years. she never worked was a happy ;loving woman that laughed a lot, and she shopped until she dropped as she put it-they had 3 boys, she would never allow the husband to dicipline them, but he was contented, i had known them both since the age of 20 she had a husband that would never go to a bar, nor did he swear, he liked to stay home after work, she liked to go, he said it was ok, he made good money and she never worried about anything i talked with both of them about 6 mo ago they were living in calif they both agreed they would do the same she never finished school had no desire to she said when she met her husband that was all she wanted she had many friends as he did, he got sick and passed away about 9 weeks ago, and i know that she is heartbroken, but i wonder what she would have done if he had left her after 35 years as some men do and her with no work experience, i talked with another woman that was at a meeting where i was, and she was talking about her life, she said she had never worked that her husband wanted her to stay at home with the kids, after they grew up and left he divorced her, and she said i do not know what to do i have never worked, i feel so bad for her, as she seemed lost
i also woder about the posts i have read but cant remember what the names were or i would ask them if they would mind sharing their story with us would you do the same thing now that you did before you married or would you do something different this also applies to the single women, and men i do hope that you will come and share with us, and maybe we can all benifit from your story thanks jo
