Greg stops Treatment

May 01, 2008 09:13PM - 0 comments

Well, Greg had to stop TX. He was told that he can take another look at teh tx options a few years down the road or possibly look at going on a liver transplant wait list in about 10 years. Sort of discouraging but we are believing God for a miracle...  :)

White blood cells too low

Apr 08, 2008 11:10PM - 0 comments

Well, today my husband received a call from the HCV nurse and was told that his white blood cells are dangerously low. He was told that he had to immediately stop all riba and shots.
He had to stop for a week a few weeks ago due to this.
He was sent to the phamacy to pick up an injection of "Neupogen" 300/mcg-ml
He's had such a rough time of this treatment, he's really weary of it all.  He seemed relieved that he was able to stop for awhile.  I'm concerned as I read so much about not skipping tx and being on time etc.

Whirl wind week!

Mar 21, 2008 09:24PM - 0 comments

Last week my husband Greg received a call from his doctor who originally told him that there was very little chance if at all of having any response to his TX but they would keep him on the meds for the 12 weeks.  Well, after your recommendation, we asked if he could up the riba dosage and they said humm... sounds like a good idea. So Greg did!  Well, The doctors office said that he had more than a 2 log drop. He was at 179,000.  His last VL was 1,300.
Im hoping the one missed shot they conviced him to skip doesn't affect those numbers too much.

Last night I came home and Greg was breathing really hard in his sleep.  I called his doctor and they said due to his fever of 103 he had to go in.  We went to the emergency room and they did xrays of his chest and checked for blood clots since he's been fairly inactive for 3 plus months.  As it turns out he has a flu bug.  This latest shot really kicked his fanny.  The doctor was unsure if his breathing difficulty was due to his shot?

Concerning information from the doctor.

Mar 13, 2008 10:33PM - 1 comments

Greg received a call today, the day before shot 13 is to take place and a few days before we find out if he's UND or not. He was told to stop the extra riba pill in the evening because his white blood cells are down. The said they were down but not "way" down.  So Greg accepted the reducing of his extra pill in the evening.
The concerning part is he was also told not to take shot 13 due to this issue.  He asked if they had received the results from the 12 week VL test (which determines wether or not he will continue tx or not) and they said "NO".
I'm concerned as if he's UND by some chance, could this slow or in some way effect the results of his tx.
Greg's going to call the doctor tomorrow to see if maybe they can just give him helper drugs to combat the low cells.
Actually, I believe Greg's ready to just have a reason to stop tx.  This tx has been very hard on him.  He hasn't been able to work and is grumpy and dragging all day.  It's not like him at all!  I just want him to be cured.  I'm willling to put up with what ever it takes to get him through it, even his grumpyness.  By the way, to those who support someone on these Meds... it's brutal.  I don't know how they do it. When I feel sorry for me, i realize it must be so much harder for Greg.  Hence, I pray.  Alot!   *hoping Greg goes UND/SVR*
Today we heard from a woman who calld us and said that she went UND/SVR using homeopathic meds after she was not showing any response to tx.  She said she went on a special diet and herbs, etc.  I guess it's worth a try while he's waiting on other drugs.  Greg said he doesn't feel like he wants to do the more severe tx right away if at all.  I'm thinking he really needs a break.
