New Meds

Jun 18, 2009 12:00AM - 1 comments

I started taking tryptophan last night. I've been on this med before but it has been about 3-4 years. The reason for this is due to no insurance and having a baby and nursing for almost 1 year. But believe me,I needed something! I hope this is all I will ever have to take cause I hate taking meds!  I have been trying to research the side effects of this medication but cannot find too much about it. Does anyone know anything about this medication? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

Normal sleep is not normal!

Apr 18, 2009 12:00AM - 0 comments

I usually am up at least once a night with my 13 month old or one of my other children. Last night I awoke to a noise of crashing. When I checked it out, my husband was upstairs on the main floor not able to make sense or breathe right or do anything for himself. I don't know what was going on but after a hour or so, we went back to bed. Very strange, never happened before. Felt like he was having a hot flash, confused, couldn't speak right but wasn't having any chest pain. I'm very confused.

Does anyone else have experience with lennox-gastaut syndrome?

Apr 13, 2009 12:01PM - 0 comments

Hi there everyone, I was wondering if there are any people out here who have experience with lennox-gastaut syndrome and all the issues that come with it. My 7 yr old was diagnosed with it in January of 2009. I've done a lot of research on it but all I can find is the explanation to it. Nothing has said how to deal with it or anything. My son has severe behavioral issues as well as severe uncontrolled seizures. I know that his meds all have a part in his behavior and I'm looking into behavioral therapy but is there anything we can do at home or at school? He is in spec ed for half of his day for fine motor therapy and grade 2 for his learning in writing and math stuff. He lives for the computer and is very hyper active and loves phys ed. He learns at a 3-5 year old mentality but really enjoys school and friends. He has a hard time with concept issues. He is intellectually disabled. He literally is a text book case for this lennox-gastaut syndrome. His behavior is the worst. Any info would be appreciated. On a daily basis, he takes 4 epileptic meds and one to help him sleep. But I don't think it works as well as it use to. Anyhow, I will sign off until later. Thanks for all the help.

Will there ever be a cure?

May 20, 2008 08:52AM - 2 comments

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. I've been dealing with one of my children having severe epilepsy for the last five years. Even to this day, he stills has three different types of seizures and very uncontrolled. Even though I'm learning new things all of the time, I don't know how close the doctors really are to finding a cure for epilepsy or if there will ever be one. On top of everything, I have fibromyalgia myself, and am in moderte to severe pain almost all of the time. I don't even know too much about this disease. All I know is how much it really hurts! Maybe I'm complaining to much, or maybe I'm not, I don't know. All I know is that I really don't know where to turn next. Does anyone have any insight to any of this? It'd be much appreciated. Thanks.
