Keeping up my walking

Hooray! I have walked the last 6 of 7 days and manage at least 1/2 mile each time. Gotta keep that blood moving. As long as I don't stop, I don't get dizzy and don't tip over. The walking poles help a lot!

Keen Fit Walking Poles

I am so thrilled with the walking poles! I walked my normal half mile circle in 13 minutes twice! And felt good when i got back. Usually one lap in 16 minutes makes my knee and back hurt and right foot drop. Poles made all the difference.

I could tell right off that my cadence and stride were off as I tended to drag the left pole/right foot. As soon as I fixed the stride, I picked up speed, my knee quit hurting and I got my heart rate up to a whopping 80 bpm! The poles also helped with stability when I took a wobbly step.

Afterward I had energy to burn and felt so much less stiff and sore I was just elated.

Saw the neatest thing on the web... Keenfit walking poles. I ordered some! They looking like they will give me some better stability when walking, help if my balance goes off and if my knee wants to act up. Plus by swinging my arms, I might get my slow heart rate up over 75, which is hard to do when you walk slowly due to MS. :) Could be good for proprioception as well.

Trying to gain and doing too much exercise seems counter productive. Trying to keep it all under 45 minutes a day except for pilates day on thursdays.
