I've had this theory (joke of course) for a long time that most dogs are born with ADHD and most cats are born with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, which is basically bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I mean sh*t just look at the way they both act.
Dogs untrained usually like to bark or chase or bite everything, hell sometimes you can't even stop them from doing things like chasing cars and the mail man which unfortunately can end up tragic.
Cats, which can't be trained and only compromised with (no joke), act like they suffer from hallucinations, catatonia (sorry no pun intended there buddy), cognitive defects, limited concentration, memory problems, mood swings, bizarre behavior, social awkwardness, paranoia, and so on. Jeez and when they're in heat don't deny it no matter how much you love them you want to kick the sh*t out of them... which... I guess... some people end up doing or worse. Basically insanely increased sex drive there although this happens for pretty much all animals but cats make you way more aware of it than other animals at a really annoying level. They don't even function at all like some people with those disorders in a job setting like dogs can although this is due to their solitary nature while dogs have always lived in packs and want to appease the leader. Dogs have always been bred for their attitudes and such while cats have only been bred for their looks.
But yeah I'm just joking anyway and I like cats and dogs although I like cats more and dogs just scare me to death. You might of realized this by me being able to make more comparisons for the cats rather than the dogs where I've lived around cats most of my life and dogs not so much. I even have a big list of similarities I noticed between me and them. Both animals can become extremely loyal to you although it's generally harder to befriend a cat on the same level as a dog especially if they're feral but it's not impossible and even then they're probably not going to come to you every time even if you pet them and give them food unlike a dog because again the dogs are pack animals and the cats are solitary. People are all the time trying to prove one is smarter than the other which is futile and impossible because each animal is smart and conversely stupid in it's own categories due to the way they both evolved differently.
Interesting (possible) facts I heard about both:
Dogs have a distinct bark for humans and some other animals.
Cats are actually consciously controlling their claws and it's not automated or an instinct when they're attacking or playing with things.
