I'm scared

A friend who had a hysterectomy one month after mine has had a recurrence.  She had surgery on Monday and starts chemo in three weeks.  Feel like the wind has been knocked out of me. I'm scared for her, for her family.  I'm scared for me and ashamed to admit it.  I wish I were stronger...

Erika that is frightening for you but please be strong perhaps your friends tumour before the hysterectomy was a different cancer from your one ? You are doing so well I have just been reading your posts its fantastic that you are now being reviewed every 6 months with no disease detected , Dr Goodmans advice to you was very good please take care and try not to worry the risk is so small now. I didn't have time to read your history when I came across this, but I did want to say that you cannot look at things like this.  My "chemo buddy" had 1A, I have 3c.  She died two months ago and I am still fighting.  There are so many factors that have to be taken into consideration and you can't compare yourself with anyone else no matter how much you may think your situations are the same, they really aren't.  It looks like you are doing really well by the above post and I would encourage you to stay strong so you can take care of yourself and be there for your friend.  Remember, as much as we have in common with this beast, we are still apples and oranges.
