Hi Everyone, I am Dr. Jim Humphries.  I am the President of the Veterinary News Network (MyVNN.com) and Veterinary Administrator at PetDocsOnCall.com.  We have just partnered with MedHelp to provide you the best in veterinary medical advice right here on this incredible site.

The Veterinary News Network (VNN) is a news production and distribution network of over 400 veterinarians in the US and Canada.  All of us contribute to our local media delivering animal health stories to the public.  Whether it be Radio, Television, Print, individual veterinary hospital web sites, newsletters or "New Media" we research, write, and distribute our stories to our members who then deliver these educational tools in almost every major market in the country.

Just last year our stories made an estimated 700 million impressions and 30 million dollars worth of public education value!  Part of the funding for the VNN organization comes from our veterinarian's volunteering their time to post these answers in the Ask A Veterinarian section.  Consequently your posting fee is going to a good cause – public education of animal health issues across all media types.

Our veterinarians come from all over the US and Canada and are composed of very experienced general practitioners, some with special interests in areas like exotic animals, birds, holistic care and even anti-aging medicine.

Some have secured advanced education and training to become board certified by a veterinary specialty college or board that is recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
A veterinarian who meets the rigorous education and training standards of an AVMA-recognized specialty college or board is awarded a diploma and is referred to as a diplomate of that college or board.  Only those doctors can be called a "specialist" or a "Board Certified" veterinarian.

I am proud to say we have board certified specialists in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, animal behavior, critical care and even pain management to help you.  The answers they are providing to the MedHelp community are outstanding.

Also, beyond medical training, we all have pets of our own and know they are an incredible part of our families.  I personally own 4 BIG dogs (2 of them Great Danes) and 8 Arabian horses.  I'm very attached to all the animals on our ranch and can't imagine life without a big dog to hug!  You'll find that is very typical of all our veterinarians.

We are all pretty new at this forum concept and MedHelp is our first affiliate partnership, so bare with us as we get registered and accustomed to how everything works.

Remember, these doctors are volunteering their time to help you and their primary concern is giving you the best information they can.

If you are unsure of which category your questions belongs, just post in General Health and we will answer your question.

It is important to remember that while we cannot diagnose or treat your pet in a virtual environment.  But we can give you lots of information, guidance and help you work more closely with your veterinarian to get the best care possible for your pets.

Many of you have welcomed us here – thank you.  I hope that our PetDocsOnCall.com veterinarians are a positive addition here at MedHelp and that all your pets live longer and happier lives as very special members of your family.

It is an honor to have you all on MedHelp.  I am also a owner of a Great Dane and love them.  He is my first Dane ever; but, I can't imagine not living with one now.  Though I love my other animals VERY much too.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU all for your blogs, answers and just for being here.  It is a privilege!  Thank you.  ;~)
Big open arms, tail wags and smiles.
