Oh the pain of it...

Still working on healing my reflux. I am getting a sharp pain under my left rib, short of breath, and golf ball in my chest. Dr. said it could take 8 weeks, but I will get better. Hope he's right. I have a mild fever just about every day which makes me think there is an infection. Humm..
I have the same thing going on...I still can't wrap my head around this being caused by Silent Reflux. The shortness of breath gets scary sometimes. What type of meds are you on and how much do you take, if you don't mind me asking? I've been on 20 mg of aciphex once a day since Feb 6 and still I have the same problems. I am having a upper GI endoscopy on May 20 to reconfirm my ENT's dx and check for further damage. I wish you the best.
Hi Happy, You are lucky to be getting a endoscopy... please let me know how it turns out. I don't have insurance so we are waiting F O R E V E R to do that!

I take the generic Prilosec (Omeprazole 20mg) in the morning, and again at night. If I have a heartburn episode, which I do almost everyday, I take the generic Zertec (Ranitidine 150mg). For the shortness of breath I use an Albuterol Inhalation Aerosol.
Man, just typing this is making me sick... I consider myself a health freak! Don't drink, don't smoke, don't eat meat... workout and run everyday... There is no reason for me to be this sick!
Good luck on the 20th, my thoughts and prayers will be with you. And be sure to let me know how it went. I am going to get one too.. sooner or later.

Rene, I'll surely let you know how it goes. I have many questions for the GI doctor. I've been having troubles going back at least a couple years and I've been told basically it's anxiety since I tend to be a worry wart. I was actually relieved to get the LPR diagnosis but the meds aren't helping and it's even getting a bit worse (especially the breathing). I think maybe I need to take the medication 2X a day as that seems to be the norm, not sure why I was only prescribed for once a day. My insurance company put the kibosh on Aciphex (too expensive) so next refill will be Omeprazole. I am wondering why this happened out of the blue. I've modified my eating and also lost 20 pounds since January and still I have troubles. Do you have seemingly unrelated symptoms too...for me it's palpitations, rapid heart rate, head rushes, stuffy nose and ears? These are some of the things I would like to ask the the doctor but I hestitate because I don't want to throw too much at him. I will let you know how everything goes. Please keep me posted as well.
PS...I think I am very fortunate that, unlike you, I don't get heartburn very often with this.
