On the eve of my eleventh birthday I went to bed a carefree ten year old. when I woke the next day I was covered in spots. Every night for 20 years I have prayed to be free from spots, and today I am.
The dermatologist is glad that this course of Roaccutane has, at the very least, given me a holiday from my acne.
We are going to continue with this dose for another 6 weeks and hope it results in a longer remission than before.
My brother picks me up from the hospital. as he hugs me his shirt rides up and I see the Serenity prayer, in Thai writing on his belly: Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
