MRI of the lumbar spine

Technique: Sagittal T1, T2, proton density, axial T1 and T2 weighted images were obtained.

Findings: The vertebral body height disc spaces and alignment are maintained
partial degenerative disc desiccation is seen at L4-5 and L5-S1.

At L5-S1, there is a diffuse central disc protrusion with a hyperintense annular tear. Mild
effacement of the ventral thecal sac is seen. No canal stenosis is seen. There are short
pedicles. Mild to moderate bilateral forminal narrowing is seen.


At L4-5, there is a diffuse central disc protrusion with a hyperintense annular tear. There
are short pedicles. No significant canal stenosis is seen. Mild facet and ligamentous hypertrophy
is seen. Mild inferior foraminal narrowing is indentified.

At L2-3 and L3-4, There is mild facet and ligamentous hypertrophy.

At L1-2, there is mild facet and ligamentous hypertrophy.

Impression:
1.Small central shallow disc protrusions with hyperintense annular tears at L4-5 and L5-S1. Forminal narrowing is seen at L5-S1.
2. Other finding as described above.
