Well, I am happy to say that my first round of Clomid was not nearly as bad as I had feared. I had been frightened that because the RE had started me at 100mg for CD 3-7, which seems to be on the high side. It appears most people start at 50mg. I am happy to say that I have only had a few side effects so far - none of them severe. The first day I felt slightly dizzy, but nothing horrible - could have been too much coffee. My eyes have been extremely sensitive to light but that is easily solved with sun glasses. I have also had some ovarian discomfort - mostly on the right side - which is normally the side from which I ovulate. Thank GOD I have not had any hot flashes yet. Not sure I would be able to handle those very well.
I have to remember to thank my pharmacist for suggesting i take this medication at night time. I think that taking it before bed has helped me to avoid many of the problems others have mentioned.
This month I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) 3 times a day, just to help maintain at least a little bit of CM since Clomid apparently can dry it out. I am thrilled to say that the EPO has been working amazingly well and so far I have WAY more CM than usual. Strange.
Unfortunately my acupuncturist is on vaca right now so i am going to have to skip the acu treatments this month and just rely on Clomid. Let's hope my lining doesnt thin out completely without acupuncture and considering the effect Clomid usually has. The RE said that it only thins the lining in 50% of cases (not sure i trust that statistic) so I am going to be cautiously optimistic this month. I guess the proof will be in the pudding on the 29th when i go for my mid cycle ultrasound. I will be upset if i have no lining. But Hey - at least i have CM this month! LOL!
