So after lots of prodding by some lovely honorary grandmas, I decided to update anyone who is reading how I am going. I reached 30weeks today. I can't believe it really only 8-10weeks and I will see my beautiful babies face. I've attached the latest ultrasound piccie.
I had my last checkup last week and had an ultrasound and the baby is growing perfectly with its weight sitting at the 51st percentile - nice and average.
My weight mind you is not quite what they have expected. I have put only 6pounds on due to my thyroid issues and constant morning sickness and I have quite a small bump all things considered.
During last weeks visit I asked about the c-section and whether I could be 'awake' if we opted to have a look see surgery. The good news is that they would be able to do the whole thing with an epidural. They would have to use a vertical scar to get access but since I already have the laparotomy scar this is no biggy. It will be a bigger recovery than just a c-section but this doesn't really worry me. I've done it before! So they are now going to discuss my situation across the Practice and consult with their Senior Gyn/onc specialist. Funny thing is that they will be talking to my own gyn/onc so it was nice to hear them say that he is who they see as the best to consult with. Nice to be reassured that I have such a well respected Dr!
I also talked to the Dr about the lack of sensation. I don't have any feeling from belly button down and across the middle. I feel the baby kick but it is more because it tugs the tissue wider away that does have sensation. It is strange. It is like touching your cheek after you have had anesthetics at the dentist, you feel the vague pressure but don't actually 'feel' it. I am having Braxton Hicks contractions now but don't feel them at all, just can tell because I touch my tummy and it has gone all hard for a while. I'm concerned that if I did go into labor ahead of plan that I wouldn't feel it. The Dr was all like of course you will feel it, but I don't think she understands just how absent the nerves are in my abdomen since the laparotomy. It's kind of frustrating when they don't have any idea what you are talking about.
So I will learn more when I go back to my next ob check up in 2 weeks. I might then know a rough date. Very exciting.
