once in a lifetime experience

Aug 27, 2014 - 0 comments

I just wanted to share with all of you. I got the opportunity of lifetime. My cardiovascular surgeon that works for the same group that I do. whom did my bypass allowed me to watch an entire Open Heart Surgery from beginning to end. It was awesome. It answered a lot of questions. It was such and emotional , educational and spiritual experience. I know understand why we feel the way we do after surgery. I do want to say that our arms are down by our sides. It keeps them out of the way for the doctor and team. I watched the harvesting of the vein and artery. I just can't tell you enough how amazing this was. I got to see a red blood filled heart beating. I would love to watch it over and over. I found out that when they sew our graphs in that they use plastic sutures that will never dissolve and that the graphs attach and become part of our heart within 6wks post bypass. I just wanted to share my experience.
