Hi everyone
I am writing this because I have found it very hard to access my neurologist or even my family doctor for any extended amount of time to ask any questions. I'm a 32 yr old guy that has had no sign or symptoms of seizure activity at any point in my life until the beginning of 2008. I was in a greyhound bus crash a few days before christmas in which I fractured a couple of ribs on my right side and was left with soreness in my lower right back where a large bruise was after the accident. At the time of the crash, I didn't report any sort of head injury to the paramedics or to the hospital though I know I was probably out for a couple of seconds as when the bus came to a stop I found myself with my teeth buried in the seat in front of me. Since this time I had what I thought of as "up, down" moments where I had almost prophetic feelings that were shortly replaced with rage and anger. I probably averaged about one of these every three weeks until 2 weeks ago I had a full on seizure while taking a first aid course of all things. I was told I didn't breathe for a period of time and convulsed violently for about a minute of so. I was brought to hospital where I was given a cat scan, am mri, and an eeg. I was told that the eeg showed irregular activity and that the mri showed no sign of tumor. It did show an enlagred ventricle that I have been told has absoloutely nothing to do with my seizure activity. I asked my neurologist if that bus accident could have anything to do with these sudden changes in my life and he seemed to doubt it. He did confirm that my "up, down" feelings were like auras that are mini seizures and that i am most likely epileptic.
This said my questions are:
Is it possible that I hit my head in that bus accident and was unaware of it leading to these mini seizures and then the bigger seizure?
Is it possible that I didn't hit my head and just the body trauma from my ribs could have triggered this?
Could stress of knowing I can't work and life issues post mva have triggered this?
I have been told and have read that in my age group seizures are most caused by head trauma, tumour, and some disease. I'm having a tough time seeing past the timing of this all as of the events that have happened in my life and never having any type of issue before.
Thanks for taking the time to read this to whomever this may concern
