Bipolar is like climbing a mountain

Jun 10, 2008 05:19PM - 2 comments

Bipolar is like climbing a mountain, it takes an incredible effort, a great deal of time and energy and the right tools to get on top of it. But when you loose control it only takes a short time to fall that great distance you have spent so long conquering and when you hit the bottom you hit it so hard. How many times can you keep climbing and falling from this mountain before one of the falls is so bad you finally cant get up from it.

Hi Tyler,

You certainly hit the nail on the head there!  How many times can you fall?  Thats a big question, I remember saying to my GP a couple of years ago, "I can't keep bouncing back, all the bounce has gone, I have no more energy" and thats when they put me on the "scary" medication.  Yes I'm scared of falling that hard again.  All I can really say to give you some hope is that I've fallen hard a few times, even gone as far as trying to take my own life, but I have come back, somehow, with support I've always made it back.  So don't think about what might happen, take each day as it comes.  If you ever want to talk just message me, don't struggle through alone.

(((hugs)))  Helen
