Colitis Lung Disease

My Father is currently in ICU on a breathing machine and he has all the symptoms for the past two years of having severe colitis of the lungs. Any information pertaining to this condition is greatly appreciated. My Fathers doctor (elderly) refuses to consider that Colitis is the cause and therefore is not treating his condition if it is indeed Colitis.
